PROLOGUE
With the defeat of earths warriors at the hands of the Deadly Alliance it is up to Raiden, the strongest of the heroes, to defeat the sorcerers. His attempt fails but when the Dragon King appears all three struggle to fight against the beast. Knowing the true power of the Dragon King Raiden uses a powerful blast to defeat him. Although the sorcerers are vaporized by this attack Raiden is left weakened and nearly killed and the Dragon King takes back the amulet. Raiden’s fellow heroes Sonya, Kung Lao, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kitana and their enemies Kano and Mavado are captured by the Dragon Armys soldiers and taken to the Dark Prison to be held.
Meanwhile the Lin Kuei, led by Sub-Zero, fended off Shang Tsungs minions. When Baraka lured Sub-Zero away from Frost she was nearly killed. If Frost had no cried for help she would have been destroyed by the Dragon King but Sub-Zero used his agilities to escape. Taking her to a mountain range they took shelter from Barakas patrolling forces. It was there that Sub-Zeros heritage, inscribed in stone, told him that only a true master could fight the Dragon King. Alerted by a sudden noise he turns to see an old man. The feeble warrior before him was Bo Rai Cho, having been the only one to make his escape from the enemy. He told them that if they didnt act fast earth would be destroyed.
On the far side of Outworld the ninja specter Scorpion fought with Drahmin and Moloch. Cast into the Soulnado by the Onis he is nearly torn apart and drained of his energy by the spirits. Struggling and swimming through this mess his spirit dives into a space between the realms, the Void. The voice of a great being spoke and before him stood four divine creatures known as the Elder Gods. They told him that if he continued his quest for vengeance he would never succeed in fulfilling his destiny. In order to be worthy of entering the Heavens he would need to fight against the new evil caused by the Dragon King. Restored to maximum power and sent to the Order of Chaos, to hunt down the first general of the Dragon King, he begins his new goal.
In Outworld a weakened Raiden is captured by the Tarkatan hordes. He makes his escape slaughtering all before him and he makes his way to Earthrealm. In order to win against the Dragon King he will need to find old warriors, from the past tournament, before they are hunted down by the Dragon King’s henchmen. Stryker and Kai are already imprisoned but he is able to recruit the assistance of Nightwolf and Kabal.
In Edenia the kingdom has been thrown into chaos with the capture of their princess. When Mileena misleads the armies Jade and Sindel go on a mission to rescue her. Rumors are that their general Rain is captured too and with his help they can free her. As Edenians scatter from the Dragon King Tanya and Mileena take control and the only warrior left to fight is Li Mei. She uses the mystical armor of her peoples ancients for power.
Leaving Frost in a frozen sleep to recover Sub-Zero and Bo Rai Cho find an underground passage to the Dark Prison. Along the way they recover the aid of Kenshi, who had become lost on a mission to find Cyrax, and attacked by Reptile and Nitara. The three warriors decide that to find the exact point of the prison they will need a master of telepathy, Ermac. They find Ermac in a temple in the wastelands. Soon after they are attacked by two ninjas, Noob Saibot, and one who appears to be Smoke. The assassins would have did them all in but Shinjuko arrived at the right time to help.
Scorpion enters the Realm of Chaos and encounters the warrior called Havik who has been gathering an army for the Dragon King. He cuts him to pieces, leaving his head mobile, and he tells him that the Dragon King has found a set of powerful relics to give him power. Once Havik has spoken Scorpion’s rage fuels him to crush Havik’s skull and he makes his way to Outworld and searches for the remaining generals of the army.
In the Realm of Order Darrius has been fighting against the rogue samurais Hotaru and Dairou. He successfully defeats Dairou but when the Dragon King appears before him he is forced to yield. If he does not obey him Darrius’ people will be destroyed.
Raiden has managed to gather enough heroes to help. Nightwolf, Kabal, Ben, Kira and Ashrah know that the only one who can defeat the Dragon King will be Liu Kang. In order to release him from his tomb Nightwolf channels Liu, calling him out of Shang Tsung’s corpse, and Raiden places him back in his former body fully rejuvenated for the battle.
Shinjuko tells his new allies that it was his doings in releasing the evil Dragon King. By disposing of Blaze and attracting Reptile to the chamber’s center Reptile’s species was the perfect vessel for him. They find out the Dark Prison’s layout and discover that hundreds of warriors are imprisoned from both the side of good and evil. The Dragon King plans on using souls, the strongest of the strongest, to harvest into his body to become greater than ever. When Shinjuko, Sub-Zero, Bo Rai Cho, Ermac and Kenshi are found Motaro, Kintaro, Moloch, Drahmin and “Noob-Smoke” are let free to kill the heroes. Scorpion arrives in time and kills the Onis giving the heroes more time to release their friends. Meanwhile, Raiden and his own group make an impossible journey through the Dragon King’s palace fighting against their greatest foes. When all twelve heroes are surrounded they are forced to go into Mortal Kombat to survive. Even against themselves
Scorpion defeats Hotaru in a bloody battle throwing him into a grinder and takes his head back to the Dragon King. Sub-Zero defeats Baraka using both his freezing powers and finishes him by kicking him into the Dark Prisons turning spikes. As this battle goes on Raiden is being tortured and Liu is able to sneak away to find him. Next, Nightwolf fights against Darrius and although they are both noble they need to fight for their people. Ermac is put up against Kenshi as well but they know that unless one wins they will be destroyed and both collapse from mental tiredness. Kabal fights against Kira to prove who will be the next leader of the Black Dragon and Kira has no remorse in throwing him from the Sky Tower. Finally Shinjuko fights the master Bo Rai Cho, as he did when he was a boy, and he defeats him. Liu is able to find Kitana in chains being tormented by Mileena and when he makes an attack on her. Just before Mileena stabs him with her sais Kitana sends a chain at her feet sticking her to the ground and Liu Kang changes into a dragon for the finishing move.
Sub-Zero, Nightwolf, Kira and Shinjuko are put before Dragon King to be an example of rebellious nature. Scorpion watches from a distance and then he attacks the Dragon King head on with his flaming sword. Liu Kang looks for Raiden but when he finds him it is too late. Liu Kang drains his power and in a rage assaults the Dragon Army destroying all in his path. Sub-Zero is ready for battle and he helps Liu battle.
Kira tries to save herself but Kabal, having survived the fall by clinging to the roof with his swords, cuts her down and makes his way to the prison and takes on Kano and Mavado at the same time. Tanya panics and she fights through the palace but is eventually taken out by Jade and Sindel. When it becomes clear that the earth still has a chance Shinjuko assists Scorpion. After discovering his weakness Shinjuko destroys the relics he uses and it weakens him. Liu Kang uses Raiden’s magic to open a portal to earth and as the imprisoned heroes break free they escape through it with Nightwolf.
Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Shinjuko and Scorpion prepare for the ultimate battle. The Dragon King is still very powerful but when Shinjuko gives his life to kill him it punctures a whole through his chest destroying the amulet. Liu Kang, Sub-Zero and Scorpion know that in order to destroy him they need to give their own life essence for it is the strongest power. Scorpion has an idea, he is and will forever be the undead, and orders them to escape back to earthrealm. They do so and Scorpion gives all of his soul and creates a blast so large it wipes out everything in Outworld.
Back on earth the warriors rejoice. With the Dragon Army still loose and a threat rising from the Red Dragons and Tekunin the earth warriors fight to vanquish all evil from their realm. Welcome to Mortal Kombat 7
