Music in MK6...

posted04/07/2003 05:39 PM (UTC)by I think there shouldn't really be any mainstream type music in MK6. Dark stuff like in the previous games, maybe some more depth, more orchestral, maybe add electric guitar into it once in a while for edge... Thoughts on type of music... some people want hip hop, some want industrial rock.. lets get a big tally right here for the type people want

They should really put in techno trances for fights.Like the ones in Mortal Kombat the Movie.
Those were hott.

A techno feel for Mortal Kombat would be perfect. It was like that in MK1 and MK2 (if you don't believe me, download some of the songs off of Kazaa). I think techno stage would really be cool in the game.

I'd definitely say orchestral or 'dark' oriental. My top 3 favorite level themes (I'm talking arcade here since home versions sometimes changed bits) were:
*The Church in MK3 arcade.
*Pit II in MK2 arcade.
*Kombat Tomb in MK2 arcade (the same song was used on the MK2 portal stage in MKT).
...those all were gothic (not gothic rock) or oriental but well orchestrated. With the advancements in video games nowadays why not do a full blown symphonic soundtrack for the next game... hire an orchestra and give them a score and have them perform it. Being a musician myself I understand how much atmosphere music can add (if even subliminally). Going full blown 'dark' symphonic with some far eastern touches (where needed) would add a grand, large atmosphere to the game. Of course this is my opinion. I think contemporary forms like Techno or Trance have no place in MK and those films had piss poor musical atmosphere, again IMHO. Hip Hop or Rap is out of the question, too repetative and definitely NOT grand (both of those genres from a musical perspective are quite uncomplex).

Orchestral theme would be excellent... the best aspect of the game might be the soundtrack then... Shenmue had a pretty good soundtrack(the theme with chinese fiddle was interesting)...
