To the Mortal Kombat Team at Midway:

Hi! I've always enjoyed the Mortal Kombat series ever since its debut in the early 90s. I've always thought the series was a breakthrough in the world of fighting games, and I still believe this is true today. I've been excited about the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Deception game coming out this fall, and I've followed all coverage of it very closely. Now, that E3 has come and gone, I've gotten plenty of information on it. However, some things have bothered me...

At E3, the world finally got to see how Mortal Kombat: Deception's Death Traps work. I was estatic. However, something seemed awkward with the way it performed. Ed Boon had said in several interviews that the Death Traps were not permanent Fatalities, but more along the lines of ring outs. I was, more or less, saddened at that. Fatalities and death in Mortal Kombat was something I always liked, and a big reason of why it was and still is so phenominal. I always felt statisfied humiliating my opponent by finishing them off with a Fatality, but if you simply respawn after being ground up into dog food, I feel that defeats the point of a finishing move altogether. With that addressed, my question to the MK Team is:

Will the option to make death traps end the match be available?

By assuming from previous Mortal Kombat titles, the option to turn death traps off is there. I believe that if 3 options (end round, end match, and off) were introduced, the disputations around the death traps would cease.

Continuing on the discussion of death traps, I believe there could also be another feature which many Mortal Kombat players would enjoy. An option that could take matches to new heights and limits. The option to:

Only win a match by death trap.

I believe that could add TONS of possibilities in a Versus and even Kombat mode. The way I see, the character's lifebar would never deplete, and the only way to win is throw your opponent (or your opponent throws you) into a Death Trap. Its just a small tidbit I thought I should add in, but I hope you do take it into consideration.

Along with the Versus mode, there is one thing I also noticed missing from Deadly Alliance (and all games previous, for that matter). A one player Versus mode has never been added to a Mortal Kombat game, but I believe this option would add so much replayability to any game this was in. This option is almost always overlooked in fighting games, as only a select few games have it, and I believe this would make Mortal Kombat: Deception one of
the most replayable games of all time. The option to choose your character, the opponent, and the arena would add so much more depth to the classic "fight a friend" Versus mode, but now you could fight the computer in matches instead. This would be a greatly added plus to people who can't complete Kombat mode at that moment but want a quick dual (with an opponent of their choice at that!) but also for fans who enjoying making stories through this option. I would assume it wouldn't add too much memory to the game disk, and I know many people would love this option.

If you've read this far down, I do appreciate the time you took to read this fan's e-mail, and as a quick list in case you might have missed something:

1) Will the option to make Death Traps end the match entirely be included?

2) Will there be an option that will make a match/round end only by Death Trap?

3) Will you add a one player Versus mode, complete with choosing your own opponent and the arena?

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and I'm looking forward to Mortal Kombat: Deception this fall.

Obviously, whoever the receptionist is won't reply probably because my questions are too large for their feeble mind :o But, it would be nice to have these options. They'd probably take up...egh, I'd say in the hundreds of kilobytes at most. Compared to characters models which take up quite a bit of space.

I won't, because a bunch of noobs will start writing and they'll get swamped. However, I'll give you a hint:

www.midway.com

Its pretty obvious which section to click on (I know a lot of people won't get that, which is hilarious).

What the hell is it with you? Being new to this site doesn't mean these "noobs" are new to MK.

That's a very good message, good grammer, good spelling and a clear question. It sucks that they didn't reply.

Actually, if you give them the e-mail (which, as you said, is readily available at midway.com), and they DO get swamped, they'll have to, not only respond, but take your point into serious consideration. I've written several letters to Midway over various MK:D topics (the most often being why the hell Nintendo gets the shaft on this...). Oh, and concerning noobs... everyone is a noob as some point. Noob to this site and noob to MK are two different things, too. Fatality.

Newbs and noobs are also different things. A noob (or n00b, which is much more derogatory) is basically an idiotic parasite. They never learn, and continue to be a nuisance. Trolls are similar, but a troll does stupid/offensive things on purpose.
