By now, most of us are a bit cheesed off by the fact that several sources seem to suggest that the Super Unlockables are just Liu Kang and Raiden... but I've been thinking:
First of all, I'm sure I read somewhere or heard in a video an interview with Ed Boon where he said that there would be plenty of characters to unlock (meaning the darkened out spots on the character select), and that there would be more unlockable characters than is initially apparent.
My theory is that I believe he's definately saying something like "everyone expects there to be unlockable characters in MK - that's what the dulled out spots are for. When all these spots are filled, people might thing they've seen everything, but they haven't...", meaning that the SUs would appear as additional spots on the CS (as in some Tekken games) or you would have to hold down specific button combinations to access these guys once they are unlocked (like Chameleon, Blaze, Mokap...).
Also, one thing has been bugging me - there are CLEARLY many more 3D fighter models in the game (with their own fighting styles too) that arn't yet known as being playable. They're FIGHTABLE in Konquest though. This means one of two things:
The first 2 MKs had additional characters that were only FIGHTABLE, eg Reptile, Noob Saibot, Jade and Smoke. Thing is, there's no 'secret' about being able to fight the rest of the MK cast in Konquest which means this isn't likely to be the whole story, leading me to
They may indeed be unlockable, but nobody knows HOW just yet. Of course you can use Codebreaker to play as them, but maybe there are other ways. Indeed it's VERY likely these characters will have NO bios, endings or Fatalities, but so what - at least there are more QUALITY characters in there that you'd actually use once in a while!
Maybe you need to unlock everyone first (including Liu Kang) and THEN do something else (who knows?). One rumour mentions that if you have a MKDA save on your memory card then you can play as the MKDA cast - and maybe this could also extend to MK1,2 and 3 saves (they're all out now), but obviously you'd have to do something else that we don't yet know or someone with these games would have posted up here by now!
I REFUSE to believe that you can't 'unlock' the fightable Konquest cast. They don't NEED to be feasable in the game (look at Human Smoke in MKT) just fun to play as. If the models and moves exist then it would only require a fraction more code to make them playable and I don't believe Midway haven't thought about that and included it for completion!
Anyhow, the game's still young (and not yet out where I am!) so no doubt sooner or later we'll find out the truth. If it turns out they're NOT unlockable then at least we've got our Gamesharks (for Offline play ONLY)!
Peace!

There is no doubt in my mind that there are more unlockable characters. This would include Johnny Cage, Jax, Sonya, Goro, Quan-chi, Tsang-Sung and im not sure who else. If you watch the character movie bios then you would agree. Im just trying to figure out how the hell you unlock them.

unless boon lied to everyone there DEFINETLY is superunlockables because in a vid a while back he said that there are the unlockable characters and then there are these super unlockables that you find after youve completed everything else in the game. im not sure where the vid was.
