Need help in Earthrealm and in Netherealm

Ok, I need some help in Earthrealm and in Netherrelm.
1) In Earthrealm, what do I have to do to enter the temple area in H4? Guards won't let me pass.
2) In Earthrealm, where can I find Shang Tsung? I was told I needed to speak with him so I can join the White Lotus clan.
3) In Netherealm, what do I have to do to pass through the small brigde at F5? The guard won't let me pass.

Thanx for your answer to questions 1 and 3... but about #2, I followed the storyline but I haven't talked to Shang Tsung, that's why (I think) I can't join the white lotus yet. Is there any other way to join the white lotus (that is, what did you do to proove your skills to elder wen, so I can join the shaolin tournament)
