Look on mksecrets.net there are some scans and info on characters EVERYONE will love to hear.
Deception's lineup consists of 24 fighters - 12 that are available at the start of the game and 12 that can be unlocked - "and then some super-unlockable ones," says Ed Boon. "Those are the ones that you dig up in Konquest mode way after you're done with the game."

Cool, I like that format. 12 to start, 12 more, then the rest from konquest. "super-unlockable" that sounds awesome! I wonder how online will work with unlocked characters, I suppose you'll need your profile or something. Then some people will only be able to choose 12, and some 30+. Like people in North America may have unlocked alot of fighters, right when other parts of the world are just getting the game...

I like that, so my guess is that there will probably be around 6 extra hidden ones to round up the number to 30 characters, who knows maybe even 32.

I also like the fact that you can turn off death traps, hopefully you can also set them to work on the final round only as well.
Yeah I just looked at that, good shit.

There's a MK: DA Quan Chi render there too....wink

"Noob Saibot and Smoke are two characters that are king of fused into one," says Ed Boon, "so they're going to have all these weird juggle-combos with their different fighting styles"

That caught my eye, so seems like both camps were right, that black guy is Noob but it might also be Smoke as well. More fuel for that argument.

I tried to tell people there wouldn't be 24 characters unlockable from the start, but they all had "sources" telling them otherwise.

I had no sources and I was right. tongue Good to hear anyway.
Welcome everyone. More than likely one unlockable character each realm.

I wonder if some characters are unlocked on how well you do online. Like unlocking someone after 100 wins, if thats so I would be the first to unlock those characters.

Using online stats would be unfair, not everyone has online capabilities.

Yeah, I really doubt any characters will be unlocked in online play.

And besides subzero961, your posturing makes you look laughable.

I'm happy that the starting roster is just 12. At least it'll give us more of an opportunity to learn with other characters than just our favourites straight away.

I love the idea of the super unlockables! It'll be great unlocking them whilst playing through Konquest!

Thanks for the info!

Hopefully it's atleast 32 characters total. I'd prefer about 36.

My original idea for the game was to have 14 characters at the start (7 along, two rows). Then there is a secret character that creates a complete perimeter around these characters. That takes it up to 36 characters. Now it could be something like six by six.

30 characters is more than enough for me. You have your standard 24, add Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and three other people, and I'll be downright giddy.

26-28 is my official prediction. Has been for a while now.
It's always better to guess low and be pleasantly surprised than to guess high and be bitterly disappointed. wink

26-28 makes the most sense. I can't think of anyone they should add other than the three I mentioned in my previous post. We know most of the characters, throw in Kung and the DA, who else is left? Other than clones, throwaways or dead characters?
