Nah that would mean that Noob was Smoke's apprentice-type thing, that Smoke taught Noob, and I dont see that happeneing.
I reckon Boon meant that they wanted to include either Smoke OR Noob, and whichcever one they pciked, they wanted to surround their story and moves with links and hints that they may be the other, but decided at the last minute to create them both seperately.

I thought he said that their stories will be somewhat connected.

I wonder if Noob is going to have the attack that he had in MKT, where he threw that little cloud of "smoke" forgot what the attack is call!

I'd like for there to be some connection with Smoke and Noob. I think anything interpersonal between flat characters will make them more interesting. First you need to give Noob some sort of a history though. Right now, Noob is a demon, and Smoke is a life long member of the Lin Kuei; maybe Smoke made a pact with the demon Noob to get out of the bondage of his cybernetic form?

Boon should design new moves for Noob and Smoke to make them unique again.
