Why? Because he is an excellent character! Deep storyline with potential. His look (not really counting his alt though) is original and intriguing, his storyline interesting and important now.

Darrius is ok, not much of an impact imo, cool, but not near as cool as Hotaru.

Neither has much left to offer to the series, but I say Sonya wins.

SONYA Wins:
Sonya has been around since the start, and she has proven to be one of the main fighters of the game, as stated in MKDA, she has humiliated Kano in the past and must do so again.
She disserves her happy ending and Kano disserves (as much as I like him) what he has been asking for since the start, a sweet kiss of death.
He rocks, but he cant beat Sonya, his MKDA ending proves this, he needed an entire army to defeat her.

Darrius is cool, Im sure against some others he might win.

Sonya will win. Because people 'sploding > tearing people's organs out.

I think sonya would win because shes much quicker and smarter. I never really saw Kano as a amazing fighter, I think he relies on his strength to win him the battle. I think he would give her a little trouble ( I doubt Kano fights fair) over all Sonya would come out on top.
Hotaru could beat Darrius because hes a seidan guard. Im pretty sure hes a better fighter than Darrius.
