Online Connection problems..I cant believe this hasnt happened to anyone else

posted10/12/2004 03:19 AM (UTC)byI've tried a lot of different methods to connect to the PS2 server to play
online in MK Deception(by the way, I'm at school in my dorm):
I put in all my IP information for the network, and tried to connect...It
worked, I was able to connect, but when I registered a username and
password, I couldn't get past the "downloading stats" part because the
game would say "server not responding. please try again later".
I then bought a router to route my connection from my PC to the PS2
(because I thought this problem was likely due to the firewall at my
college...so If i routed the connection it would work) and still got the
same problem. I even manually set the router to forward the ports that the
instruction manual said to, and it STILL wont let me login to the MK
server.. I dont know why this is, because it's not like the game doesn't
let me connect .. it says connected at the top of the screen, i just cant
get into a room...on a side note, NHL2k5 works flawlessly online for me. So it has to be an issue with this game :-|
ANY help would be greatly appreciated...I got this game to play online
with people and so far I havent been able to do it at all. Maybe some of you comp technician people can help me. I'm going insane about this...Please respond, i wana play you guys in Kombat
Thanks

maybe this...
ok.. you got the router..... did you remake an internet connection for the ps2 after you plugged into the router?
also, because you are in a dorm, there's probably a ton of connections, slowing down your response time... that doesn't mean you are not connected but means you have a bad connection, and based on other posts, there are a ton of disconnects, lag, etc. with this online game so unless you have a direct connection to the internet, you're probably sol......
can try calling their tech support if you really want to....
that's all i got for ya... and i have yet been able to connect online by the way.. can't get past the connecting screen... can connect to any other game just fine.

thats exactly what i can do, connect to other games fine, but this one gives me shitloads of problems. iehghghgh
I am having the exact same problem with the server not responding. I am also in a college dorm, but this doesn't prevent me from connecting to my other games. It's really aggravating when you want to get online and get your ass kicked by a bunch of fanatics and you can't even connect to the server.

Your router has a different IP address. In windows, open up a DOS prompt and type in ipconfig. Use those numbers and no others. Also, if you are using PPPoA (DSL with username/password), do not have your MKD/PS2 game use a password or it will not respond. The password and shit will be done on the computer side.
I had the same problem.
