Playing MKvsDC on the PSN can get pretty laggy at times. Any fix?

Having been on a hiatus I'm coming back for some online play on the PSN. However I noticed that the lag is pretty high at times. Is there any fix for this? Via a patch or something that I can do on my end?

due to bad management and poor game sales midway can't afford to patch it at this time. they're still using 386's as servers.
