Plot holes that need fillin'

Post if u see any plot holes that you couldn't explain so far, and that need filling :)
The return of Kabal: Mavado killed Kabal, it says so in his 1st costume bio (that's where he got hookswords) and yet, Kabal was never in the Netherealm? How the?

Mavado severely injured Kabal and then took his hookswords.
