Pre-Order vs. Pickup
Pre-Order vs. Pickup
Hey guys I just had a quick question about the best way to purchase the Best Buy Premium Edition. Is it better to preorder or do you think they will have it on store shelves in store on say October 11? When I looked at pre-ordering online I noticed that even with next day shipping it said that it will be at my destination on October 12. I was just wondering if Best Buy would have it on shelves quicker than it could ship?
I just happen to work at a Best Buy in Western Pennsylvania. Best Buy will receive both the standard version and the Premium Edition on the same day, most likely on Oct. 6th. We only get shipments on Tuesdays and Fridays. Even though we will get it early, by law we cannot sell it until the 9th.

it's usually stocked a day or two later than the release date.

Why would it be stocked a day or 2 after the release date? Both versions are due out at the same time and that's the way Best Buy has always gotten games that have a standard and a special edition. We will have both versions on Oct. 9th.

About Me

well if you look at this from another perspective if your a person who is not old enough to buy it (i am 15 and i have to be 18 to buy it) i'd suggest getting it online
Luckily here in South America I never had any problem to buy a MK game because of the age, the sellers just don ́t care.
Although I ́m 23 I played the very first MK in 92, on the arcades, when I was 9 and I still have all the cartridges for Genesis since that time! MK fan for life! :)

I'm getting it pre ordered ^.^ but its all the same game it really matters on how soon you want it and when your going to have the money for it. I believe it will be sold out so you might not be able to get it right when it comes out on the tenth.

It depends on where you are. My local Stores get games a few days BEFORE the game comes out usually. Of course they refuse to sell until the official release date.
yea.
i know that lots of places get videogames and even systems in advance.
the place i work at has PSP's and PS2's for a good 4 days before release day. they kept it locked up really well with only 2 sets of keys, the store director and the store security...

Thanks for the information. I think I am going to head up to Best Buy on the 9th or 10th and hope they have it out on the floor. I doubt people will be rushing to Best Buy for it since most will go to EB or Gamestop so I think I will be ok without pre-ordering though it is taking a risk.

the 9th is the ship date. The day basically all of the copies are being sent to Vendors. Now some retail outlets may get it earlier, prior to the ship date, but wont be allowed to sell it until Monday. It also depends alot on your locale. Certain area's (generally major cities/suburbs) will have it ready/for sale on the 9th, however most places will not have it/recieve it until the 10th.
If you order it online, and pay for 1 day shipping from say EBgames. There's a very good chance you'll get it on the 9th, again though, this depends on your location.

Hold up, so there's a chance some stores might have it on the shelves at the 9th? Cuz that would be better for me personally.
I pre-ordered mine at EB Games for store-pick up, and I live in Malden, Massachusetts. What do people think, any chance I might be able to pick mine up on the 9th?
This is very interesting, hope someone can get back to me on this.

cause i live in chicago...the game was totally produced here so it should be there on 9th.
wait.....
you could play mortal kombat 4 at the age of 4???
that makes you like what, 9 years old?
how didd you even know what you were doing?
anyways....
i think getting a copy of the standard edition is not gonna be hard.
the premium editions may be a bit tricky to grab up.
we got 2 weeks so only time will tell.
gotta remember its a GAME not a system.....
systems are seriously limited and hard to find on release day
games are shipped in bulk.

Ok ..... let's get this straightened out. The game will be in ALL stored the 9th becaise that is the official release date. When you look at a pre-order, the reason it says shipping 10/9 is because they're not allowed to ship it to customers before the official release date. That's a clear violation of breaking the hard street date. They will ship it on the 9th to all of the people who pre-order it. They'll most likely ship it next day air so you'll get it on the 10th. BTW, Best Buy is the largest retailer of video games, period. We're getting about 65 copies on the 6th. 40 standard and 25 Premium. I honestly feel sorry for the people who are going to be waiting to get it in the mail. While you're waiting, just know that about 90% of this forum will already have the game.

^ I agree, I mean while I'd like to get the Premium Edition the only cover I really care for is the Dragon Logo which is at the farthest (but not undriveable) store from me. Now I would pre-order it but to be honest out of all the gaming stores that will carry the Preium Edition, GameCrazy seems the less reliable (no offense to anyone) than the others so I could see it coming late there possibly.
Plus all the extra features excluding the UMK3 of course, will end up online anyone. The history of fatalities video and the bio cards will all be downloadable on the web in maybe even just a matter of days. Plus the standard edition of the game will be just $40 which is a huge steal IMO, seeing as how brand new games are priced at $50. So I'm thinking that I will just go to either EB or Wal-Mart on either the 9th or 10th which ever it is and cop my game then, rather than pre-order.
