Maybe I'm just a cynical gamer lost in his own fantasy world, but I say the designers should take a somewhat more realistic approach to projectiles...in the way that they should be unblockable. Unheard of? Yes, I know.

Well, I don't really want to come off as a genius or anything like that, but, if someone fires a missle at you (Sektor) an explosive projectile attack, in reality, if for your defense against it, all you do is throw your hand up to impede its path, will it, or will it not explode and damage you regardless?

Other examples of this should include:

Sub Zero's ice blast: The ice will freeze the blockers arm, then proceed to freeze the rest of them.

Scorpion's spear: Even blocking it should at least deal a considerable amount of damage...seeing as how it just impaled your arm...!

Jax's gun blast: Self explanatory, unless you think you're Neo!

Rayden's lightning: Also self explanatory

Well, I think I've pretty much made my point. I say the only way to avoid projectile attacks completely is to either jump over them or sidestep. Remember, they are mortals, not Super Saiyans.

Lol, this is a pretty interesting point actually. I guess its always been MK to simply just 'block' what ever projectile has been thrown at you, but I agree its not very realistic. Hmm... perhaps a solution would be that you could only block while in your weapon stance, having the weapon do the deflecting instead of the arm of the character. Though, that wouldn't work with some weapons, it still would be more logical than just using your body. All in all though, blocking projectiles shouldn't be in MK6, you have many other options than just to block: Sidestepping, Ducking, Jumping.

Now we're starting to make some sense here! I mean, I completely agree with Ed when he says "reality is boring" mostly because I can relate in the worst way, but PLEASE, WITHIN REASON, PEOPLE!

PS: You should also only be able to block weapon strikes with your own weapon. If you tried to block a sword swipe with your arm....I will not compensate for the idiots on this one.

blocking against a weapon still takes damage. just not nearly as much as not blocking at all.

That's exactly my point. Unarmed fighters shouldn't even be able to block weapon strikes in the first place.

hey ya think it would be kool if u could block sum1 elses weapon with your weapon.....but hears the catch, every time u block ur opponents strike, use lose weapon points, or if u block with your weapon too many times, u lose your weapon

losing your weapons while blocking sounds to much like that boring ps game soul-edge. This is not soul-edge! Furthermore you can block against weapons, you can catch the blade off the sword in mid-air, yes, just like in the martial arts movies. We are talking about fighters here that are the best of the best of the best, so i think they can block against weapons, even raydens thunderstaff. If the have protective patches by their wrists or ankles...the could block and still it would realistic.
