PSM magazine fails to Mention DECEPTION as part of their TOP 10 of E3....updated

PSM, as we all know released their April issue (#83) with nothing but Mortal Kombat Deception information and excitement. Literally, the editors lead me to believe that MK was one of their favorite franchise, and that they were really excited about the release.

Then, as i was in Barnes and Noble yesterday, i read through their latest issue (has GTA San Andreas on the cover) and they had a huge sprawl of games from their E-3 line-up. Within this sprawl, they listed their TOP TEN games of E3 which included Prince of Persia 2, God of War, GTA, but NO Deception.

what a bunch of pussy's. wheres the love for MK? I bet it wasnt NEW enough of a concept as they had plenty of time with it PRIOR to E3...

Does it really matter? If its not on an editor's top ten list, do you really care? Is it going to change YOUR opinion of the game? Is it so hard to believe that out of the thousands of games at E3, some of them might be better than MK? Why does everyone cry so much when some mag dosen't kiss MK's/Boon's ass?

sigh....this is the reason i havent visited the threads in well over 2 months. you just get flamed or ridiculed for having the slightest opinion on the board. its fucked up, what happened to having cool people.

Those cool people are still around, man! Don't be too quick to dismiss them. wink

And despite not putting it in a politer way, DrCube is right. At the end of the day it's what we think of MKD that counts! Not some magazine and its editors. We're the fans. Our opinion matters more than theirs imo.

I'm with DrCube on this... sorry, but I am. Even though MKD wasn't in the top ten of some mag, doesn't mean they don;t have "their back". Who cares? It won't change anything if it were in the top 10. I remember looking at that same mag and MKD was mentioned... as well as 100 other games. But it was recognized.

and... don't call game mag people pussys... thats just.... sorry, but dumb. Not everyone will agree with you.

I have to admit, I hold games mags, especially the british version of PSM2 pretty highly.

They are after all experts, they have a good idea of what they are talking about.

They're not fans of the games they review, so they review the "game" nothing more.

Games reviews are based mainly on three principles, graphics, gameplay and lifespan. If games don't have these then they get a bad review, simple as that.

I'll always listen to games reviews before fans of the game, simply because the reviewers know more about what makes a good game.

As a fan I'll still buy it, but I'll also have an expert opinion of the game. grin so it's all good

Dr. Cube is right in a way man, u cannot argue what he's saying about what YOU personally think baout the game. If anything he's trying to give those diehard MK fans a chin-up/ In the end does it really matter what magazines say this and say that when at the end of the day you'll prolly love the game anyway? It's great to hear our favorite game's trumpet blown but you have to realize that there were tons of excellent games at E3, and i bet u if u looked up those 10 games nadlooked at screenies, and read about them and watched gameplay vids u would love them, becuase they r really quality games.

it was there, just very hidden and i think psm was one of the only ones able to visit. but yeah, its just there opinion and i do agree with most of there list (from what i can remember, burnout 3, god of war, metal gear solid 3, GTA:SA, and Devil may cry 3, so maybe i would fit MKD somewhere in there)

Who cares about PSM if memorie serves me right didnt MKD when best game at E3 then who cares about what some guy who lives in his parents basement think? Im still gonna buy the game and im gonna enjoy it damn it!!

This isn't the 90's anymore. As good as WE think it is, THEY still think it's the same thing time after time. Why do you think MK made that Video Game Violence Probe? Because of it's reputation. The editors of these magazines know that Mortal Kombat isn't looked at the same way it used to be. They know that games like GTA and whatever else will draw more attention to their publications so that's what they print. I don't think any less of their oppinions if they aren't the same as mine.

PSM does indeed like MKD, they put that 10 page exclusive with many pics and an interview with Ed Boon himself in there. If they didn't like it, they wouldn't have wasted 10 pages for it, since they could have easily only made it 1 or 2 pages.

Just cause they didn't list it on the E3 Top Ten doesn't mean they are not fans. It means that they found all the other E3 previews on the Top Ten to be better and maybe more revealing on the game. Maybe if MKD had been more complete and what not it would have been on the Top Ten E3 list.

PSM has a good name. They review games without being bias imo. So no one should go around bashing them cause of something so small.

Clearing things up. My ORIGINAL post at the top of this thread was based on speculation. I was just trying to emphasize that PSM appeared to be HUGE MK fans, and i was basically making fun of THEM for not included Deception, but chose jak and daxter 3 and some other games.

Lets be honest, Deception DID have a lot of competition, but i wasnt complaining. I was just saying how PSM should show love for deception.

Its cool...thanks T Grant.

And YES, Dr. Cube is right. Actually, when i read his original reply it was as if he never read my post, just the title of this thread. I tried to emphasize in my post that PSM COULD HAVE put Deception on their top 10.

Dr. Cube is right. Just because Deception isn't on PSM's Top 10 list doesn't mean you have to whine about it and shit your pants. Some of you need to grow up and formulate your own opinions and realize that a magazine ranking system isn't going to change many opinions. "Pussy's"? Go to school, it's "pussies".

The obvious thing is that MKD is not a PS2 exclusive game, while all the other games that made it on the list are. I have the magazine, and MKD is number 5 for readers most wanted, so it's not like they hate it or something. Don't start bashing magazines, there's really no point, considering that it's the editor's choice and opinion to publish whatever they want. And your choice to buy or read the magazine. GTA:SA was a PSM exclusive, so that's probably why they had it at number 1.

They are big fans im sure.
I have that magizine, but i got the one with the bonus dvd and on it it has the e3 trailor for deceptiopn so take it for what its worth.
