Quan Chi and Kitana .. Should we assume?
that they will at least be playable in thier MK:DA forms while playing the chess game? Maybe they won't be revamped and be selectable as a main charaters in Deception, but perhaps they just threw them in the mini-games since they were already created from MK:DA .. I still wanna see Kitana in Deception .. but it would be better than nothing .. I'd still get to kick some online butt with her then :)

It wouldn't surprise me if they were in or out, but quite frankly I don't think there's proof of anything yet.

Sure, keep the faith, man. There's no reason to not believe they'll be included at this point.
And I'll be hoping with you that Kitana's in there, as will a boatload of other fans :)

In fact, continuing to show us those same chess-board screen shots is probably a part of the whole 'Deception' theme. Since Kitana and Quan Chi both appear there (as do Scorption and Sub-Zero, who are both confirmed characters), I'm inclined to believe they'll be IN. But the characters there are clearly all wearing their MK:DA apparel, hence leading to a lot of... Deception.
I don't know why they'd even bother to import characters from MK:DA (Quan Chi, Kitana) into this chess-board game for development purposes, if they weren't going to be in there. We know there are a lot more people than just Scorpion & Sub-Zero who were in MK:DA who are coming back, right? So why would they use Quan Chi and Kitana, of all people, if they didn't plan to have them in the game? They could have used any number of other characters who they were PLANNING to have in the main game, rather than go to the lengths of importing Kitana & Quan Chi's images if they weren't even going to keep them around. Deception... or a not-so-subtle double-hint? They've got us chasing our tails trying to figure it out, and that alone could be the Deception!
This very website concluded that, given Quan'Chi's prominent status in recent pictures on the chess board, that his inclusion was looking more likely. Well, right behind him in those same pictures is Kitana - so don't lose hope on either of them!

I think we should not assume anything. However, if Quan Chi and Kitana are back; it means to of the other characters that appeared in the magazines are not in. As Kenshi, Scorpion and Sub-Zero have been officially confirmed; and Bo Rai Cho "apparently" has been cofirmed too(appearing in different magazines as playable, but I haven't seen anyone at Midway say: "He's playable."); there would only be room for Quan Chi and Kitana under the 2 unsure spots: Li Mei and Raiden. I think Raiden is probably not in the game and is out; however apparently MANY people just say they have sources and that Li Mei is in; noone says Raiden is in for sure. So I guess only one would return. Apparently, some people claiming that havee sources "confirmed" that the characters that will be playable in both extra games will BE THE SAME ONES available in the full game.
That's just a brief explanation on all the possible things that could happen. However, none of that is actually 100% confirmed so just wait till E3 so Midway will release more info; probably this questions will be answered.

well i think they have a good chance, in this one article of MAY Game Informer it was said that there were more classic characters that they couldnt mention. So that means other than Baraka, Mileena, Noob Saibot, Smoke, Tanya, Ermac, Nightwolf, Sindel, and Kabal there are gonna be even more classic characters.
I can see your view on that and it does make a valid point. Why import characters you have no plans to keep? However, if you remember back when MK4 was coming out. Kitana was practically confirmed, then pulled out at the last minute for Tanya. Ed Boon believed he needed more new characters. So it's also possible they were gonna be in it until storylines or whatnot changed. I hope your are right .. but I don't think we can go off just that.

Well if the basis of the chess game is that your board pieces are the characters with whom you are best at playing with in the actual game, then Kitana and Quan Chi are back.
Also like someone else had said, why would they bother putting Kitana and Quan Chi in the board game and making their character animations if they arent going to use them in the actual fighting modes. They released the names/images of many other new, and returning characters before they released images of the chess game, so why not use other characters if they aint puttin Quan Chi and Kitana in the game. I think it looks good for both characters to return. Here's hoping I quite like them both, especially Kitana. Would have preferred Shang Tsung to survive, but hey I can live with Quan Chi.

I would like to see Kitana too. I'm pissed and hurt that she's not going to make an appearence, but they have Mileena? What happen to the rivalry between Kitana and Mileena there is no Mortal Kombat without Kitana. Kitana's like the Chun.Li of MK why can't she make another appearance.
As far as hidden characters go Ken better not be in the game. Street Fighter is a no no to the Mortal Kombat Universe. If anything the only world that could mix would be the very well done game "KILLER INSTINCT" Since Deception is supposed re-introduce the combo breaker (Killer Instinct's invention)It would be nice to Orchid in Deadly alliance since she was already a "killer" Hints the "Killer Cuts" OST to KI

Actually Sonya is the Chun Li of MK, since they are both cops.
I think the chance that Quan Chi is in the game is VERY high.
Well Bo Rai Cho isnt officially confirmed by Midway yet, so without him there are still two spots left for returning DA characters (unless there are gonna be more then six, because it looks like the classics are gonna be more too). But anyway if there are still two spots I think there is a good chance that Quan Chi and Kitana will fill these spots.
Quan Chi has already been spotted in that latest video clip of actual gameplay footage but everything in that Quan Chi sequence is in the old MKDA look so its not 100% sure yet if hes in.
