Quan Chi: Is he in or out?

If anyone with inside sources feels that they can comment about this, I'd definitely appreciate it. I've been wondering for a while now whether Quan Chi is going to be in MK:D.

On one hand, we've all seen the video of him in the MK chess game. What bothers me about this is that the only other characters we've seen in MK chess are characters that are already confirmed to be MK:D. It's also strange that in the new German Gamepro video, it actually shows Quan Chi and Scorpion on the chess board meeting and then entering a fight. Everyone has stated that this looks like MK:DA. My question is this: How could it be MK:DA? If Quan Chi is in the Chess game and not the main game, then that would imply that every MK character is in MK Chess, much like konquest. If that's the case, I seriously doubt that they're going to update every characters moves and appearance for the purpose of a minigame, even if it's being done for konquest. In konquest they're nonplayable characters. Creating a 3D model is a bit different from giving them updated moves and animations, which would undoubtedly take much longer to do.

Of course, this issue is that Quan Chi's look doesn't seem to updated at all. He looks exactly the same as he did in MK:DA. So I'm definitely confused.

Does anyone know if Quan Chi has already been confirmed for MK:D? If he's not going to be in the game, then how can he be in MK chess? Any answers or opinions on the subject would be much appreciated. Do you think he'll be in the game? Should he?

I know this topic has been done several times, but I was wondering if anyone with inside sources could shed a little light on all this. Thanks!

From what I know Quan should definitely be in MKD, but it isn't certain yet. It doesn't make sense for him not to be imo. His ending in the MKDA never happened so who knows. He may be back or sitting out.

He is in the story line as Baraka is his gaurdian
but untill now he won`t be in the game.
But like allways things can change and again they can`t,I don`t think he will make it to the final line up,but again i can be wrong.

Where has it been said that Baraka's his bodyguard? I don't know if I've read that or not.

Yeah it does not say that anywhere,so put up the proof.Last I saw was that baraka went to kill quan in the mk4 ending.

He is the bodygaurd of quan chi,he is there to defend him from Scorpion and the Oni.
And Mileena is there to destroy Baraka.

I hope he is in, MKD need at least one major selectable bad guy, I have nothing agaisnt Tanya, Noob, Baraka, Millena, Ermac etc but they are not major bad guys
MKD is seriously lacking major bad guys STAR power

I would say that he is in.The trailers show him an scorpion fighting,then he is in the chess match.So I would not be surprised if he is finally confirmed.Long Live Johnny Cage.

Yeah but if you look at the video, the background is obviously Quan Chi's background from MK:DA, and both he and Scorpion look exactly like they did in MK:DA. Scorpion looks a little bit different now, as evinced from the MK:D cover of the German Gamepro.

Still it doesn't make sense to me that they'd have Quan Chi in the chess game and not in the main game, where every other character in the chess game is confirmed for MK:D. Maybe those videos and what not are old footage and Quan Chi has been removed from the lineup since then? It's just odd. Quan Chi was also in the upper right hand corner of the PSM mag that had the huge article on MK:D a while back (the one with SubZero on the cover). Right next to him, it says "We know Quan Chi has some gnarly fatalities." Are they referring to the past? Or just what they know about him in MK:D? The former doesn't make sense, so I'm thinking it'd be the latter.

Anyone with inside info care to weigh in??

PS: I swear I'm not trying to bump this to the top, I'm just curious and I want to know if people think he's in the game, whether people KNOW if he's in the game, and whether he SHOULD be in the game.

I personally think he should, as, like someone has already stated, he's one of the big bad guys. A "star" if you will. I'd like to have one of the big bad guys as a selectable character, but that's just my opinion.

He's got to be in it due to the fact he's in the chess game; to show us that then take him out of it just doesn't make any sense!

i bet after lao beat tsung quan defeated kitana imprisoned her in his sanctum the since quan had the dragon kings amulet of course the king wanted it back so he killed quan and took the amulet to regenerate his army thus the deadly alliance is dead

The footage of MKDA Quan and Scorpion in the chess game was probably just place holder material while they were designing the MKD character models. Newer shots of the chess game show only MKD characters in it. They were just using MKDA characters to test out the chess game while the other parts of MKD where still being developed. I wouldn't expect to see any of the DA characters on those old chess shots anymore then I'd expect Ermac to have Sub-Zero's mug on his life bar. It's beta material.

Quan Chi might be back. I mean we gotta give Scorpion a reason to return. And his revenge against Quan Chi is the only reason. But the sorcerer has made more enemies than he can handle after DA. So, hopefully, either Scorpion or someone esle will whack him during the events of Deception
