Question about the Ying Yang Island level

Where is the death trap at in that level? I always get up to the edge of the water and punch my opponent but he doesnt get eaten by the fish. Is there a certain part of the level or does it need to be night or day or what?

it's something to do with when the fight first starts, it would be the equivilent to the north area of the fighters, that is to say you must rotate 90 degrees. If that makes sense....
