Hate to say this but the only characters that I definitely DON'T want replaced is Sonya and Rayden. Rayden because he's my favorite AND the one who really ties all or most of the stories together. It wouldn't really feel like Mortal Kombat without him (at least as storyteller). Sonya, because she is the one and only female fighter from Earth (okay, I'm not sure about Frost coming from Earth or not, but Sonya is the original in either case).

Stryker should definately replace Jax. I've said that before, but that doesn't make it less true.

Well, in MK1 the MKTeam thought about including the companion of Sonya, but they decided to leave it for the MK2 for argument reasons, and at that time, his name was... Kurtis Stryker!!! In the MK2 they changed the name to him, and in the MK3 they took advantage of this name to create the police man of Chicago... in my opinion, I don't believe that Stryker gets to never replace Jax

Frost replacement Sub-Zero
Mileena replacement Kitana.
Kabal replacement Cyrax or Jax.
Li Mei replacement Kung Lao (as Hero Character)
Kenshi replacemnt Cage (as Anti-Hero Character)

-Mavado replaces Kabal.
-A new nomad replaces Baraka.
