I was thinking about something earlier this morning in terms of fighting styles and returning characters in MK6, anyway, here it goes.
MK:DA has a fun and interesting fighting system that will only get better because the MK team is giong to improve upon what already exists...
And that's the thing.
Killing off a character more or less takes away the possibility of those fighting styles returning... Which would just be a waste of time and programming, unless of course you give them to a new character.
And there's another problem.
With MK:DA using those individual styles people will immediately associate those styles with that certain character that uses them. Remember how dumb it felt using Blaze and Mokap because they had other people's fighting styles? See, giving those old styles to a new character would just seem strange for them to have because you already have the knowledge that so-and-so uses those styles. The only real way to get away with this is to give some type of association with the previous character, kind of like what Namco does in Tekken.
Say if Nitara were to not come back. Could you really see any non-vampire character using her fighting styles? My guess would probably be no.
And yes, they could try mixing previously existing fighting styles but it'd just kind of feel like using Blaze and Mokap all over again wouldn't you think?
So, with that as a theory it's pretty probable that a large number of the characters in MK:DA will probably be returning or will be replaced by characters that are somehow associated with them.
Remember, this is just a theory!

I know what you are trying to say, but I only partially agree with you.
I don't think that a character necessarily has to have a connection to another character to have a common fighting style.

well, i will relae this to a reality tv show, when the new season comes out you always think of the last seasons cast but after a while, you will get so involved with the new ones you will change who you relate therm too, IMO.

Of course, I'm talking about characters that would replace already existing characters, because the MK team surely wouldn't waste all that time and effort to get a fighting style down only to ditch it because the character that originally used it is gone. See what I'm getting at?
