I just realized something that struck me as a little bit odd. In the intro movie, when Shang and Quan fight Raiden together, they make heavy use of their magical energies in the form of flames and green skulls. Later, when they try to repel the DK, they use nothing but magical energy. But if you notice, they don't use any projectiles against each other. Granted, it was a quicker fight, but it seemed odd to me that two sorcerers wouldn't use magic against each other.

Also, it seemed odd the Shujinko said that when Quan defeated Shang, he "reveled in his conquest," but before he even dropped Shang's body he reacted with apprehension upon hearing the thunderous footsteps of the Dragon King. Not much reveling if you ask me.
