Since he can't really morph anymore, doesn't matter too much. Maybe in the future, when 3-D technology gets better, or when they think of some workaround for the whole morphing situation.

I feel you brother shang tsung and QUAN CHI dammit were the best of all time.
I dont feel disappointed that he was gone cause i know he will be in the next MK game and will return some day but i am disappointed because havik NOw has his snake fighting style and we might not see shang tsung return as good as he was in MKDA, also havik has Quan chi's fighting style tang soo doo and dairou has escrima and they are the 2 most stupid characters in MK history jax is wayy better than them and even hsu hao.
They gave the most respected fighting styles to the worse MK fighters ever wtf was that about, if shang tsung and havik come back in the next game and havik still has the Deadly alliances fighting styles in that game which makes midway have to give quan and shang NEW fighting styles Ima be highly upset.

It's almost a shame, except:
a) his death gives new storylines a chance- ie, Liu Kang's ghost and
b) as a character, I think he's gotten steadily worse over time. Gone is the evil asian sorcerer of MK1 and MKII, who throws screaming skulls; now we have a long-haired Jesus-wannabe looking yank. With generic fireballs. MKDA was the worst appearance for the Shangster, and unfortunately the excellent quality FMV for MKD shows what a tw*t he looks like now.

I'll tell you what i never even thought of that, that will def piss me off if they give him new fighting styles. In MKDA i had his branching combos down, he was a tuff fighter to be. He was pretty fast too and you can side step quick with him. If they do change a lot of his persona, along figthign styles in the new mortal Kombat imma be a lil upset

i culd hav sworn i saw him in a trailer being pushed onto a spike pit (falling cliff level i think) while ago. he was alrite in deadly alliance, but without the morphin abilities i spose itaint that great. in MK4, shinnok culd morph, but just took moves, weapons voices and fatalities temorarily, maybe they will do that with him later

I believe that we can count on seening shang back in the next one not including this shaolin monks game and i believe the whole story as to why he couldn't morph was the fact that he kept losing the tournament blah blah and got weeker over time but shang tsung will be back and strong than even with his mkda fighting styles because havik and dairou have no more purpose in the story line at least not enoguh to keep shang down qui chi should be back sence the oping sequence showed him running off probly teleported back to his fortress in the neatherealm
but one character i thought that the disimproved much was scropion as far as his combo's go at least and if he ever sat out i will be highly pissed

As for the topic overall, he definitely should've returned. Here he was at the height of his power, ready to conquer all, and bang, now he's just dead and gone. Since apparently no one ever stays dead in Mortal Kombat anymore (which is making the entire series utterly ridiculous as a whole), he'll be back eventually. Just hope he's as bad as he used to be.

Shang and Chi weren't the best but some of the best. I hope to see Chi again in the future but as for shang he's dead.

Shang Tsung is one of the most original characters of the entire game. I dare to say that, along side Mileena, he has one of the most powerful storylines of the series, with huge potential.
I hope to see him return in his MKDA and Mk1 look. Shang Tsung rocks, but I wasn’t really disappointed. I sure miss him, but I like to think his spot was well taken by other classics that needed a chance to return.

Shang was definitely so overconfidant that he thought he didnt needed to morph to anyone in MKDA. Soon it turned to be true, he and Quan easily destroyed earths best by combining their forces.
Shangs styles are fucking awesome, Crane and Snake simply combine well. Altough I think that if he ever comes back, he would have his styles back. Maybe Havik gets Dim Mak (translates to Death Touch) instead of Snake.
His chineese outfit in MKDA and his pizza guy outfit from MK2 were the best. I disagree over that, that he is a Jesus wannabe. >)
He will make his comeback along with Shao kahn, the two of them simply rocks. If Lius soul was intact after Raidens blast, it was maybe Shang who controlled his undead corpse. If Shao is back, he would certainly need Shangs experience, no matter of his treacherous motives.
A newer engine will bring his morphingh ability back (I hope), untill then, he rested his secrets for a while. Quan also rocks (but only in MKDA)

Worse than hsu hao, isn't that kinda pushing it lol. In either case I'm not disappointed that Shang Tsung has taken a vacation for 1 title, although I did like using him in MKDA. Originally I thought, from Konquest, His vacation was based on not playing a real role in Konquest, but then after a few character unlocks I realized he was just gonna warm the bench. Oh well, whats 1 title anyway. Shang is such a powerful character in MK he will never stay gone for long. If you think about it it may be a blessing in disguise. It could be the build of a powerful MK7 storyline.

But how many Models can the load with the Konquest Mode? There were quiet a few. It might be a different engine to run that, but they should be able to load more models for Shang Tsung.
They really need a real Morph though and are probably waiting till they can do it with a real effect instead of the Batman smoke screen that Shujinko does. They want to do it, but can not do it with their current engine. Why did they not just buy an engine like Unreal or Quake? Maybe they have limitations.
Since Shujiko changes into other Models during Kombat and Training on Konquest ,so we know that the engine can load a third model with out too much load time.
Maybe a couple options for Shang Tsung in the near future:
-Morph into his own characters: Old (MK1), Young (MK2), MKDA (others?)
-Choose 2 to 3 characters to be able to Morph into on the select screen.

Just my opinion, but Shang Tsung isn't that big a loss. I'm sure he'll be back some time, but I don't really care. He was never anything special to me.

going bak to wat i sed earlier, i just looked at the trailer were i thawt i saw shag tsung, but its actually nitewolf - didnt no either were in the game at the i saw it first cus it is qwite an old trailer

i got mad when i saw the intro movie. Shang Tsung lost to that stupid Quan guy. And i hope in the next game they will have him back with the Crane Style :)

I Love them both. the deadly alliance was the greatest team ever. but yeah i think they needed a rest.

I really liked Shang Tsung in DA, he was my second best behind Mavado. I liked his snake and crane styles.But i think for mk 7 they need to give him back his morph(even if its a random character he morphs into). I also think that he should get back his triple fireballs(ground and air).

bring back Shang. Tough they would certainly need a better engine than this. Look at it: Tekken-very big budget game, the creators can afford to redesign the engine, and Midway, well, not that big of a budget. > )

well shang is part of MK and any mk fan would know that as part of MK the storyline continues and some characters are not needed anymore...time goes on. I dont feel i know from habit of midway that he will be back because its not rocket science that no one dies in MK they always....ALWAYS COME BACK. whether its 1,2or 3 games they sit out they will always come back reiko,sheeva,styrker,fujin even jarek will all appear again oh yea and molock,kintaro,goro, everyone will come back coz they will get lazy and just through in an old model or tweek up a current model for an old character. As for shang he'll be back and i hear people saying it would be cool to have him in his MK1 form i dont see that happening....why???? because they passed that look on to the ever so original shujinko....someone who is so original he reminds me of kun lao who has kameleons ability to use everyones moves which is also a comination of shangs morph and is given shangs look from MK1....so yes shang will be back, no he wont have his old man look coz shujinko has it. he might have his snake-crane sytle but who knows since they have been handed down to crappy characters.

Maybe, at some point, Shang kills and absorbs the soul of some character and instead of it powering him, it corrupts him or over takes him, creating a whole new character.
Or a character that randomly transforms from Shang to whomever. Would certainly make it challenging.

I was also VERY disappointed with the INTRO fight of Shang Tsung VS Quan Chi.
Shang Tsung was portrayed like a poor weak wizard VS Quan Chi. He fought better then Quan Chi against Rayden, but when they both faced, Quan Chi won.
That sucked.
I love Quan Chi, but Shang Tusng is definitely the best of the 2.
