That always bugged me (especially in the Gamecube version) since the control pad was really small, and the arcade "feel" couldn't be realized. Why Midway didn't just enable the joystick as an option, I don't know, but blisters and large frustration later, I still didn't know. Maybe it's a small thing, but who wants to use the PS2 or X-Box joystick? Fatality.

Ed Boon said MK:Deception would use the joystick. He also said manuvering through the levels would be easier than in MK:DA. I'm guessing they're gonna use the 8 way run style.

When I came in this thread I thought you were talking about Arcade Sticks.I never really liked using a thumb stick for fighting games.I don't even use a controller anymore for them. But if you have nothing but a controller and if MKD has those half circle motions it's best to add the thumb stick to manuever your charcter. It works pretty good in Capcom Vs SNK 2.

I like using the dpad only because when using a joystick on a standard controller (not an arcade style joystic) your hand posistion is a little different, since you are still using your thumb and not your hand. Because of this, (for me anyway)it seems to change the angle just slightly, so when trying to do a move that requries a forward movment, I may push slighty up and jump. This could just be me and the fact that I've just always chosen the dpad over they joystick.

I did notice after playing soul calibur 2 with the joystick I did get better with it (it's the one fighting game I use it for). However, the jumping in SC2 is a little more limited, so that could be why. I'll try em both, but I'll probably stick with the dpad.

I guess the analog tick will be easier to use in konquest. However, I'm pretty comfortable with the pad. I think it will hard however to pull combos using it.

When we played at e3 you could use both. So now the only thing you have to do is pick.
