Well, recently I found out that Smoke has a larger fan base than I previously figured. So far it seems most people love him or hate him, but as I've previously stated: Smoke fans are pretty fanatical about their love for the character.

So, who's with me? Just state the reason you think he's cool and the why you want him in the next game. It would also be cool if you say whether you want him back as a ninja, cyborg, or both. And if you hate him, that's cool too. Just state your reasons, and don't be an ass about it.

right here! number 1 smoke fan

why is he my favorite?

-Because he was the fastest character in MK2 and all the mks uptill mk 2, maybe every.

- There is only one way to fight him, press down and start on the portal when you hear woopsie!

- Do I want him back? Yes

- Which costume? Original costume human, alternate robotic.

- Some interesting facts and notes you may not know about. Smoke has been in every official mk tournament. He was in mk2 and mk3, but was not in mk4 and mk5 since they definetly were not official tournaments. If mk6 is an official tournament, I say hes in!

That's cool, Outworld. I never picked up on that. Anyway, I just realized that I forgot to answer my own thread.

The most important & obvious reason he should return is because of the reformed Lin Kuei. He's Subs best friend, and now that a more positive clan has been restored, Subzero would have no doubt forgotten about his old ally(unless he's dead, but never before has this been stated).

Another thing is that it would make sense to me that Raiden would have helped restore Smoke's human form for his services to earth w/Subzero. I mean, he is a freakin god, I'm sure he wouldn't have much trouble pulling that off. But if he had to return as half & half, I'd be okay. If he was a full cyborg, that would be cool too but he MUST have a distinguished look and set of moves.

Smoke is awesome. I want him back. I don't want him to be human or a robot. He should be a human made of smoke.

Smoke is my dawg. Him and Kabal made me the king of the arcade scene. Granted most people think his moves are 'cheap', which at times they might be, I still love em. His teleport punch/spear combo is the stuff legends are made of. His downside however is, if you miss that move, you are wide open. But if you know how to use him and not rely so much on the teleport punch as you do the spear/invisiblity, you'll be fine. grin Smoke is for sure up there on my favorites list, I'd love to see him in a new MK...

I think smoke should come back and help Subzero since Subby has the Red Dragon comin after him now...and 1 thing I would love to see done wit smoke as a visual effect would be that when he walks U dont see his body just a smoke outline of his body...and when he stands still...have the smoke come to the center and U see his body form....plus if he aint cyber I want him in his ninja outfit but unmasked

I would like to see Smoke return but in robot form sense I think the automation needs to be a complicated matter to reverse. I think he should be trying to find his soul and join Sub-Zero's Lin Kuei clan.... on another note I would like to see Cyrax also return to the Lin Keui, just doesnt seem right to me that he is in the Special Forces.

I think smoke is one of coolest . I would like him back on a future MK game. Unlike so many other people that disliked the ninja clones, I liked them. Smoke was 1 of my favs ninjas. I can admit that smoke has been a clone of scorpion but is was just that little differants in his omitting smoke that made him cool in MK2. In MK3 to me that mysterious 3rd cyber ninja made him even more popular. Also some of his orgins came to light. His fight with his duty and friendship also made him more interesting as a fighter in the MK mythos. As with the future of Smoke I think it may be possivle for smoke to return to human form since Cyrax has got his soul back or at least the abialty to think for himself. At the same time Smoke doesnt have the services of the outwould investagion agency. till next time

Smoke was a great character. If he came back with a new and decent storyline, then I'd be happy to see him.

I think Smoke rocks and that he should come back. It makes sense, seeing as...

1. The Lin Kuei is now being run by Sub-Zero, his best friend.

2. The Tekunin is coming and the Lin Kuei might need someone who knows what it's like to be a machine on their side.

He should come back as half machine, half human, to symbolize that he was strong enough to withstand the mechanical hold that had been placed on him so many years ago. He should also have new abilities, perhaps a combination of mechanical and human alike, incorperating his ability to produce smoke for an attack.

Mk3 was not an official tournament. It was an invasion. Only Mk1 was official, since Mk2 was done only to distract the mortals and let Sindel resurrect in earth, were Mk3 “the invasion” will take place.

Many say Mk2 was in fact a tournament, but according to the rules, isn’t a tournament supposed to happen in one generation? That’s why they grant the champion immortality. So, Mk2 took months after Mk1, since I don’t think humans can live that long...

Back to the topic, I think Smoke is Ok. I like Smoke’s smoke if that makes sense. But, anyway, since I’ve only seen him like a Scorpion painted in gray with smoke coming out, or like a gray Sektor robot that didn’t impressed me like the other two, I guess I don’t really see something very powerful or impressive in him besides (maybe) his story.

I wouldn’t mind if he returned, but he must be very original. And by that I mean VERY different moves then the ones he had, and his appearance must be very different from Cyrax or Sektor (if they return as robots) or different from any ninja in the game.

That is what I was thinking. Now Im confused about queves comments, because in mk2 didnt shang tsung beg for his life and gave shao khan the idea that he can LURE earthly combatants into a TOURNAMENT? Well?

when someone is as big of a subby fan as I am, there is no way in hell you wouldn't want smoke back. He in my opinion was the third best ninja ever created, subby being #1 and scorpion being #2. His story line would fit perfectly in MK6. He can join new good Lin Kuei(sorry if I spelled it wrong) along side his only and true friend subby.

Yes, I think they are :/, but read: This is info from a Faq that analyzes all the games:

Mk1: Original tournament.

Mortal Kombat was a Shaolin tournament held years ago in the name of honor. But one year the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung brought his apprentice, Prince Goro of the Shokan race to compete. He killed Kung Lao, the reigning champion and plunged the tournament's good name into
darkness.

Every tournament won by Goro meant the weakening of Earthrealm's barriers. By "unbalancing the furies", Shang Tsung's lord Shao Kahn would be able to invade Earthrealm and make it his own.

Mk2: A distraction.

Upon the wizard's return to Outworld, Shao Kahn immediately chastised the defeated Shang Tsung. He was going to have him horribly punished until Shang Tsung offered an idea that would redeem the lost efforts of Kahn's previous plan. He brought up the fact that if he were to be able to wander into Earthrealm once more, he would be able to challenge Raiden to a new tournament in Outworld. The rules said that they had to accept or else they would lose by forfeit.

With Liu Kang and the rest of Earthrealm's champions defeated, the furies would be unbalanced and Earthrealm would be Kahn's for the taking.

Shao Kahn loved this plan and in return granted Shang Tsung youth (though he would not undo Shang Tsung's curse). Kahn would host and take part in
the tournament along with Shang Tsung, his new general Kintaro, Baraka, Jade, Reptile and the twin assassins Kitana and Mileena.

But this Tournament was designed to be a distraction for Rayden and earth warriors, for while the tournament took place in Outworld, in Earthrealm, Queen Sindel (more about her later) was being resurrected.

Mk3: The Invasion.

Ever since Sindel's abrupt death 10,000 years before, Kahn had had a plan to use Shang Tsung and his band of shadow priests to eventually resurrect her body, but in Earthrealm. This act would weaken the dimensional gates enough that he would finally be able to invade the realm. And to no surprise, it was a complete success.

The tournament that was being held in Outworld, officially, never ended, since when Kahn discovered that his plan had been a success, and Queen Sindel had been resurrected, he and his armies invaded Earthrealm and he immediately devoured billions of human souls, growing even more powerful.

The entire realm began to merge with Outworld, allowing Kahn to feed off its resources. But there were a select few mortals whose souls were protected thanks to Raiden.
-----------

So, technically, Mk2 was never an official Tournament. Only a distraction to resurrect Sindel in earth and invade the realm.
