I read somewhere that it was his soul in the robot.Shang Tsung was supposed to have done it.His soul got released and now hes human.I dont really know though about this theory...sorry.

Since when has anyone seen a pic of Human Smoke? The only pic of Smoke in Deception is of him in a "smoke" form. He hasn't returned to his human form...he's a puff of smoke in clothes.

Exactly. If he's nothing but Smoke, how do you hit him, hurt him or win against him?

i think that even tho he becomes elemental, he's still able to be hurt because technically he is still human. the same thing with sub-zero. just because he's a cold person dont mean he'll spit out ice cubes instead of blood. smh

LMAO...^^ it's mortal kombat...no room for technicalities....

smoke's story (his whole story) is that he was once a member of the lin kuei(pre sub zero rule) they began turning some of their warriors into cyber ninja's...smoke and sub zero fled to escape it...smoke was captured and automated...sub zero helped him remember his past and regain his soul and he dissapeared.....now he has re-appeared in an eathereal form...

i'm sure an explaination of his new form will be in deception...and i'm not entirely sure that he'll bleed either...i mean the pic is by all rights now, very old...i don't think anyone will be dissapointed...hell i know i'm not....i think when you hit him smoke will rise out and not blood...there has been more than enough time for midway to implement that and if they didn't...well then they're just lazy...haha

I think it would be more or less impossible for Smoke's alt to be a cyborg, since that would give him a whole set of moves his "human" form couldn't possibly reproduce.
Edit - Even Liu Kang's spirit form will probably bleed, though the colour of it may look like ectoplasm.

Oh really? Hmmmm... I wonder if that whole Reiko/Khan thing has been resolved in a game as of yet. Since we all know the truth, it seems the games haven't caught up with it yet.

Sometimes I think the development team does things like that (the Reiko thing) so they can come here and have a good laugh at how we blow things out of proportion.

But yeah, I'd be very hard pressed to call Smoke's current form 'human'. Elemental, certainly.

Umm Ed Boon never said such thing. I have read all his statements back in the MK4 days and never recall him saying things along the lines to forget about him. And also your only halfway correct on Sub-Zero's story, it isnt known if Sub-Zero helps Smoke regain his memory or not. As a matter of fact, with all this time between MK3 and MKD Im willing to bet Sub-Zero didnt help Smoke regain his memory.

and i belive that sub zero was the one who helped smoke regain his memory in some form or another in mk 3...i belive smokes ending says that if i'm not mistaken

Yeah its obvious now that Smoke did regain his memory since he is once again allied with Sub-Zero, but you wouldnt have known that a month ago.
