Just like my title says, it's been a while since I've played this (probably around 2 months) haven't touched it since SFIV came out and I had a lot of fun. Had to touch up on my skills again since I had it set to max difficulty, didn't bother going online and getting my ass wooped lol but I was fairly good when I was playing it back when it got released. Last I made it to 280-something rank in online ranked matches.
Anyway I've grown tired of Street Fighter cause the online community is so boring (ken, ryu, akuma), it's an extremely fun game offline but I've pretty much done everything in that game, mastered every character I wanted so Ima play it casually. It seems that SF has attracted all the scrubs from the MK online community who were Superman infiniters and spammers, which is a good thing for MK fans.
MK is here to stay (for me at least) the gameplay is really good, and I'm saying this again going back to it. I really wish the guys over at Midway gave us some DLC to bring some life back for this game. I know about the troubles and yadda yadda but it would be so great to have more characters.

I actually did what you did. Once I got SFIV, I didn't play MKvsDCU for a while. I fired it up a week or two ago, but didn't make it passed about five minutes. It just felt boring. Haven't touched it since.

Same, minus the SFIV part.
Hadn't played it for a while, played for 5 mins, TRIED to play online, so ended up giving up.
The problem I find is the fact that there is only 3 modes: Story, Arcadce and VS. Which get boring pretty fast. If they do release a DLC patch, I would rather it be new modes rather than new characters.

this has been a problem with MK for a long time. it's so barebones. and we we do get modes they're mini games no one cares about. Agreed on the mini-games, but even they would add more replayability to the game. But what I initially meant by new game modes was real modes that relate to the fighting, such as: tag team battles, survival, team survival, heck even chess kombat related to the fighting. Also, story mode to be like Shaolin Monks (instead of just being arcade-with-cutscenes), and one thing I've been wanting for a while - to be able to practice Fatalities in practice mode.
yeah i agree in general if MK is to survive the fighting game competition it needs more modes. although a few fighting games seem to have done away with team battle modes.
but yeah MK definitely needs a survival mode and a time attack mode. also i've never thought about it but being able to try out fatalities is a fanfuckingtastic idea and now that it's in my mind i don't know why we haven't seen it sooner.

If you're still fighting bulk Ryu, Ken and Akuma on Street Fighter, then you haven't "mastered" any characters.

This seems to happen a lot. People are so wrapped up in a new game being released, all the talk is which characters/fatalities/renders etc will be included in the game.
Yet things like gameplay and replayability never seem to be considered.
I started a thread about exactly that - tag battles, survival etc. back in early november 2008... and it died a relatively quick death.
Even if that was brought to the teams attention at the last minute, there is no reason why these modes could not be implemented.
The fact is, these should be be one of the teams priorities, not an "if we get a chance to code it" sort of thing.
Maybe it might happen with an online update - but I highly doubt it, even if all the drama concerning Midway wasn't happening.
