Here's a list of the better weapons that were used in MKDA which I would like to have more combos:

Hookswords (most likely Kabal will get them) - he should be able to use the hookswords in a more stylish way than mavado. Mavado only had like 3 combos for hookswords, there should be more circular movement with the hookswords, like Shang Tsung uses his straight sword, Kung Lao uses his broadsword, etc.

Sai - no combos at all in MKDA when Li Mei used it and seeing that Mileena will get them this time, I want to see some combos!

Nunchaku - (I can see either Liu Kang or this Ben guy getting it) first of all the weapon has to look different, it looks too short for nunchaks, the sound effects should improve too. This style also needs alot more combos.

Staff - I felt that this style was a little too slow and should be more fast paced. Also needs more combos.

Your right. The combos were lacking in all of these styles. Especially the Sai style. having seen the sai in all it's glory, It could have been way better. Hopefully Mileena will do it the justice it deserves. I also agree the Staff was a little on the slow side...I practice both of these weapons (being more proficient with the Staff, I've only been with Sai for almost 2 yrs.) They definitely need to be revamped in MKD.
I hope they put more combos that involve weapons and I also hope they include larger scale combos that carry from the 1st, 2nd, to 3rd stance and then variable back from 3rd to 1st, or 3rd back to 2nd, back to 1st.

Large complex combos (each character would only have one or two) that involve six or more style switching..

My favorite combos in MK:DA are Frost's.
