Ok, I'll spill the beans on my theory.

In Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Sub-Zero became Grandmaster of the Lin Keui, and obtained the Dragon Medalion. That Medalion instantly granted him God like powers.

In Outworld Sub-Zero found something out about his heritage. So this is what I've figured out:

Sub-Zero's ancestor (whether blood related or lineage of the grandmaster title, it doesn't matter) was a great warrior king who used the Dragon Medallion to seal away the Dragon King for all eternity, that is, until the Deadly Alliance triggered his return.

Sub-Zero has probably discovered these roots and is showing who he is to the Dragon king, using the ceremonial head gear. Sort of like Aaragorn from Lord of The Rings, how he turned out to be the one person that could defeat Sauron's armies and wore the star of something (I forget, haven't read in a while) to signify that he was the long lost King of the west.

That's my theory anyway. Note that Hotaru, who seems to be one of The Dragon King's goons has 3 enemies, Darriou, Darius (probably both from the same realm) and Sub-Zero? Why just Sub-Zero you ask? Why not Shujinko? or Kobra? Because Sub-Zero is the one who poses the biggest threat. Sub-Zero will defeat the Dragon King in my opinion. Not Shujinko. Not Liu Kang. Not Kobra.

I agree w/ ErmacMK5's story. Also, people seem to forget that the Lin Kuei kidnapped children and trained them in assasination. Sub-Zero(s) may not even be asian, he could have been from anywhere in the world but was in China for some reason when the Lin Kuei kidnapped him(and his brother.) The family lineage of Sub-Zero could have Samarai roots in Japan. This would explain the new costume for Sub-Zero as well as why Scorpion and Sub-Zero hate each other once again. Scorpion is a ninja and Sub-Zero is actually a Samarai and the ninjas and samarai hate each other.

Heh, I swear I've seen this before lol.

I felt the need to move it to it's own thread, because I realized this the other day, and have been meaning to make a post about it. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel this theory deserves attention.

I have a similar theory about Hotaru and Darrius.. Hotaru is the Samurai and Darrius the Ninja...
I think Sub will be a key against the DK... and I agree his ancestors where the ones to defeat the DK in the 1st place...

BTW.. I just realized.. anyone notice how the MK story kinda went from China towards Japan???

I said it before in the original thread, but I love this idea, ErmacMK5. It's well thought-out, fits in with what we know and above all, explains Hotaru -vs- Sub (something I was having no luck whatsoever figuring out). I hope you're right, and see no reason why you wouldn't be. Great work.
And I agree with your appraisal of Sub-Zero as the one who can defeat the Dragon King. I love Liu Kang to death and am thrilled he's included in MK:Deception, but I also think it'll be his last appearance (allowing him to go out in style rather than in disgrace) and who better than Sub-Zero to step up to the plate?

I don't think I explained it completely. I don't believe Sub-Zero's ancesteral roots layer in the Earthrealm. Something as small as being Japanese instead of Chinese wouldn't change the plot at all.

To spell it out, I believe that an ancestor of Sub-Zero's killed The Dragon King the first time using the amulet. It got lost along the way, and by chance fell into the hands of the evil Lin Kuei. It is in Outworld, after defeating the deadly alliance, that Sub-Zero finds out he is the direct descendant of the great warrior, and that the amulet is his birthright, and killing the dragon king is his destiny.

Speaking as a mod:

Please do not bump your own threads.

Having said, maybe you're right. Perhaps Sub-Zero's not really from Earth; maybe he's like Baraka, only a mutated hybrid from Earth and Outworld. That could be the origin of his family's powers. Only time will tell!

I was also thinking, maybe there's something different about the atmosphere in Outworld and Edenia and all these other realms where people live to be an extreme age; when Sub-Zero's relations migrated, they're bodies could've adapted to "human" limitation, although they still retained their powers.

Good theory. I figured the artifact may somehow be related to the DK. But I figured it would be to the DK's advantage. I never figured it to be created to counter his power. Good post.

I think it is possible that Sub Zero may have something to do with defeating DK. But Sub Zero is Lin Kuei not a ninja he does not have Samurai roots. Samurai is Japanese. Lin Kuei Is Chinese.

In real life Ninjustu actually evolved from the Lin Kuei(means forest demons who really were outcasts who learnt to survive in the forest with many skills and stealth/fighting techniques) and many other Chinese teachings and pholiosophies Mostly Art of War by Sun Tzu.

They are showing Sub zero's Chinese heritage with his new look I don't think it has a thing to do with Samurai.

I think this will be Sub Zero and Scorpions last Mk it seems that Hotaru, Havik and Dairou look like they are going to take over. They have fresh story lines with many possibilities and it seems Sub Zero and Scorpion's are reaching thier peak.

MK7 is going to be something completley different But MKD is going to own.
