There's plenty of threads about DLC and the bankruptcy, but I thought I'd create one that ties them both together.

Midway is desperate to hang on to the Mortal Kombat intellectual property, and was ordered by the courts to come up with a financial plan to either avoid selling or avoid bankruptcy. The fans want downloadable content for MK vs DC and are willing to pay for it. Does it not seem like a no-brainer that if they scrambled to release good DLC (either for MK vs DC or otherwise), that could potentially relieve a good portion of their immediate financial woes?

I would think any means of bringing in money would be a no-brainer, at this point.

This has been brought up alot. THe final conclusion was that they're focusing on MK9 instead, because they think it will draw back the fans, and use the new fans from MK vs DC to get much better sales.

I'm still patiently waiting, but if it doesn't happen by the end of June, i'm giving up.

First for DLC to really help them,it would probably be way over priced.
If you think a few new arenas maybe and maybe what 4 or 8 new characters for about $15 or so and or $20 max and thats still way to much in my own personal opinion.Even with that and nothing is certain that people would be interested in whatever they give as DLC I just don't think it would even be enough to even make a dent considering how badly in debt they really are right now.If they do have it,it probably won't happen until WB probably picks up MK or Midway or whatever.

They said they picked out the characters and they are working on dlc but, I think they need to wait for a company to buy midway before they can start to distribute it.

Most likely.

The MKTeam barely had the funds to make the game itself. Where are they going to get the money to make DLC?

i really dont want dlc anymore. ok guys, lets just hope for mk9. a true bloody real mk game. i dont want midway to waste their time making dlc for mkvsdc ccause id rather have mk9. se mk vs dc was alrighht but still laced that mortal kombat instinct. like lame fatalites, boring stages nothing to unlock, no ceesy videos like cooking with scorpian. imagine how great mk9 will be. no superheros, more blood, more mortal kombat feel. i gave up on dlc. but seriously id rather play mkd than mk vs dc. i aint saying mk vs dc is bad, its great, but mkd had everything u wanted in a mk game. but the whole stlyle thing sucked and fighting mechanics bad. mk vs dc gave us graphics, mechanics, no styles, but lacked true mk spirit. so i am just waiting for mk9 nowconfused
it is likely because they are bankrupting, they had too many bussiness issue to worry about DLC and other thing connected to gmes, and i dont think Midway can do anything now AFTER being bankrupted

The DLC is not connected with the bankruptcy. The connection of the DLC is with the Super Unlockables, specific fatalities per char on MKA and other things that they promised, but never delivered...

I’m sure Boon had every intention of giving us DLC before Midway filed bankruptcy, but now they have no financial incentive to give us DLC, because the courts will probably take any profit they make from DLC to pay back the companies that Midway still owes money to, like Walmart, Target, GameStop, etc.

Ed just posted the following on his twitter, in response to the question "Was DLC ever started or finished?":

"yea we had 2 characters pretty much done. Then a number of events happened preventing us from completing & releasing them. :("

Why nto just play the game for the game itself? There's LOADS of competition, and last time I checked, that's what fighting games were primarily made for.

That's why, to this day, I still play the classic games. It's not to unlock stuff or get new bonuses...
