The Emancipation of Quan Chi

After reliving my childhood by playing MK4 again, I've relized a few things.

1. The announcer for MK4 is, in fact, Quan Chi. Yeah, I'm late as hell. So what.
2. The announcer for MK vs DC sounds like a younger, more furious Quan Chi.
3. Quan Chi is not in MK vs DC just for the sake of it.

The announcer of a MK game is usually the boss or an influentual character, i.e. MK1 - Shang Tsung MK2-MKT - Shao Kahn, MK4 - Quan Chi, MKD - Onaga

Since his emancipation is being deeply explored in this game, is it possible that Quan Chi may have something to do with Dark Kahn? What do you guys think?

Its an interesting theory I'll give you that. i would love his role in the game to be more than than just a cameo.

On one of the latest IGN podcasts Ed Boon was a guest and he said something along the lines of if the game was successful that they were prepared for downloadable content. He said fans would probably prefer downloadable characters (he's right), so the chances of getting Quan Chi as dlc in the future is possible from what I gathered.

Another thing that has caught my attention is the fact that Ed Boon mentioned that if MK vs DC was to be apart of the original MK storyline, it would be placed b/t MK2 and MK3.

Still, Quan Chi - a MK4 veteran - makes a powerful appearance. His purpose is possibly beyond both Shao Kahn's and Darkseid's.

I think Quan Chi would have potential as DLC because of his "iconic" status, even thought he doesn't really have a lot of fans compared to other characters.

As for his place within the storyline, I think it's just a cameo in Scorpion's section of the story mode.

Possible, but for what we know now, Quan Chi is the only "cameo" in this game.

I don't think he really is a cameo.

From the story mode trailer, it seems to me that Quan Chi is responsible for what's happening. So MAYBE he is gonna have a role besides being a cameo.

Time will tell

First of all the voice actor for Quan Chi did the announcer voice for MKDA, MKD and MKA. So really it's just that Quan Chi has taken up announcer role lately.

Quan Chi is also one of the most versatile MK characters.

I mean, in MK4 he had the best fatality in the whole game where he rips your leg off and then beats you with it. For MKDA, he got what is probably the most laughable and pathetic fatality in the entire MK franchise: the neck stretcher!

I say bring back Quan Chi and his awesome T rated neck stretcher fatality!

well quan chi is a super huge fan favorite that didn't make it in as a playable character. and pretty much he's the only one with any real story value so they had to put him into the game some how.

Last i check it was caused by Superman/Raiden messing with Kahn's magic portal and Darkseid's boom tube. Also, i doubt Quan will be a secret unlockable since they would also need a DC guy to even it out.

Iv been saying this since we first saw him.
He is going to be playable!

Either from release or as DLC later.
There is just too much emphasis on him in the story mode trailers too not have him as part of the roster.

Knowing midway though they have probably already created him as a playable character but will release him as DLC later on down the track.

Anyway Quan Chi is awesome, all i hope is he makes it into MK9

Perhaps Quan Chi may be the cause of the merger by being angry at the elder gods or what not.

i think this guys idea hit the nail right on the head.
i am betting that he gets a role bigger than a cameo but not big enough to be a playable character
Although if and when they get DCL, he will probably be one of the people on the list :]
