The EVEN Dealier Alliance! A possible theory on the upcoming story and Kangs return.

We see Raiden teleport out in the intro movie we saw after releasing his essence. We can assume he brought Shang and Quan with him to form a partnership in taking down the Dragon King.
Li Kang is back, and we have seen him looking very much alive. Now, what if his body has just been restored after decaying, or maybe he has been fully brought back like Johnny Cage has so many times before. But, if this were the case, that would mean Shang Tsung would have had to have given up Kangs soul and I do not believe that he would give up he soul of his greatest enemy.
If he did somehow do this, did Raiden agree to let Shang have control over Kangs soul whilst Raiden brought back Kangs body? If so, this would be pretty risky as Shang could use Liu Kang at any time to take down Raiden and over earth warriors and even Quan if he wanted, unless Raiden has some sort of control over Quans body.
Or maybe Kangs body is back under the Dagon Kings control as many have speculated before. The plan now would be to extract Kangs soul from Shangs body to Kangs in order to regain the allegiance of the MK champion. Again, Shang may not comply. The Deception here would be him turning on them in their most critical moment and handing Raiden and Quan Chi over to the Dragon King whilst swearing allegiance to the Dragon King.
If Shang didnt try to deceive them, then maybe this even Deadlier Alliance along with help from others could eventually triumph over the Dragon King. Although, judging by the intro, maybe only Shujinko can save the day as it seems his story has been set up for him to do so.
Your thoughts?.

maybe shang was vaporized by rayden and that made kangs soul free and just like cage he was resurrected by the elder gods.
First, Johnny Cage returned to his body only once. After his "death" in Mk3. No more.
It was even said/hinted by Boon and Team that Cage never died. His "death" was just a project called "the death of Johnny cage" the movie, so he never died.
With that said,
I think Its a very good theory, I like it.
But my guess is, the Liu Kang we have seen is just 1 of the 3 costumes. The classic costume. I think his real outfits will be the ghost and zombie forms we have not seen yet.
But going along with your ideas, I hope Tsung tricked them.

That is a simple idea, but I don't think that's the case. If it was, we'd have seen Kangs soul after Raiden released the blast.

Thanks for that correction about Cage, queve!
And I think the charactes in MKD are to have 3 costumes, so you are probably right in saying the way he looks is just one costume.
If Shang did manage to trick Raiden and Quan, I'd say he did a great job. It'd be nice to see things working in his favour for once.

I think Shang and Quan revived liu and are controlling him as a minion so they don't have to risk their own lives

Interesting idea, though I doubt they could get away with that thanks to Raidens involvement.

I always picured Shang Tsung as the loyal priest to Onaga. I don't know why. I like that idea heaps by the way, tgrant. Greatly speculated.

There are a few possibilities for Liu Kang, not the least of which :
*Shang Tsung morphs into Liu Kang during the teleportation with Raiden, deceiving both Raiden, Quan Chi and everyone else, by faking his own death for latter-day revenge
Maybe it's a long-shot but you gotta be prepared to think outside the square.

Loyal priest to Onaga? That's kind of what he would be if my idea was carried out. Glad you like it.

Awesome idea! That would be so great if that happened! I love that! Shang could have been feigning weakness in both those battles against Raiden and Quan then. He would have been looking for the opportunity to morph.
Sweet idea, dude!

Another great theory tgrant. Sometimes it's a shame that you don't work for Midway.
It'd make me rate Shang alot higher too.

I don't think Raiden would ever allow something like that to happen. That would be very dangerous. And Shao Kahn probably woudn't agree to it either.

I agree, it would be a fresh twist. Shang tsung, is, IMO better then Quan Chi.

Queve: I agree that shang is better than Quan. I like both, but in terms of playability, Shang is so much better. Plus he is an original. Both are badass!

Thanks, man. Sorry about the mix up.

| queve Wrote: Yep, IMO Shang Tsung could had done so much better in the intro fight. It kind a sucked to see him loose like that. Oh well. I still like this theory. |
My theory is that Shang probably feigned weakness. If you remember in MKDAs Konquest, Shang inherited his styles from some of the souls he had taken. He should have been able to use the power of Liu Kangs soul to fight like him or use his powers.
Maybe those streams of fire he was using were a mix of his own Skull Fireballs and Liu Kangs Dragon Fireballs.
But then with Kang being prsent in MKDA, I'd like to know how he broke free of Shangs grasp, if his soul has escaped at all.
