From the preview. How exactly can the high and low system be "less prominent" and what would this mean for gameplay?

The only thing I can think this means is that most attacks are high or something. Maybe all attacks are classed as one height and you block them that way... which would suck, but I don't think it's that. I honestly have no idea what that cryptic little remark means.

Speculations?

They're talking about the old high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick buttons from the pre-Deadly Alliance games, not ducking moves. How you block them doesn't enter into it.

I think this is better honestly, more oldschool high's and lows being simplistic as oppose to the whole "MK:DA-MKA 50/50 guessing game with highs, mids and lows" got annoying at times. Not that I totally mind that system if there's parries/counters, but I like this route they're taking.

I still say this game is like a 3D MK2 with some newer cooler elements obviously.glasses

Right, I got the impression they were talking about low and high attacks, and couldn't see how that would make any sense.

Of course, that could work; you'd have low attacks, but they wouldn't be classified that way in terms of blocking, instead attacks would hit via attack type and you'd have to choose the right block for the type. Sort of like blocking low for sweeps, except more complex.

That would require a completely different gameplay style though.

What I like is the newer interesting "parry or counter system" which we don't know much about yet but Boon said it few weeks ago in one of the mag interviews and you can clearly see it guys in the newer vids, gamespot where Supes pushes/parrie's Shang's arm away and attacks in counter.

And a few times in the gametrailers, you'll see(forget which characters) punching each other and counter with attacks of their own.

It's the well timing thingy Boon was talking about, so that's good to hear you can turn the tables. Always a plus in any fighter IMOsmile
