Welcome to the MKD players review thread. This is the thread where the owners of MKD get to share their respective thoughts and opinions on ALL aspects of the game and give insight to those who do not have the game.
I ask that reviews comment on the gameplay, character stories, Konquest, the other game modes, Fatalities, Death Traps etc. And for those who have already played online, please add what the online experience is like. Bare in mind that you don't have to write about all of these things.
I also ask that any reviews containing any possible spoilers be marked with a spoiler warning at the beginning so as to alert those who do not wish to read them.
Keep reviews as long or as short as you like. And don’t worry. They don’t have to be perfect. And add a score if you wish.
I was asked to make this thread by thetruth4 and agreed as it would be great to hear what everyone has to say about the game in one place.

im no good at writing reviews, but here goes.lol.
Gameplay-
although nearly identical to MKDA's gameplay, there is quite a few improvements in MKD. the characters are more responsive making for some awesome fast-paced matches. the combos dont seem as cheap as in MKDA (Kenshi had a really cheap wall combo) and the addition of the combo breakers adds a little bit of strategy and irritation.lol.
side-stepping also seems improved over MKDA. you can be standing right infront of an opponent and if you let on to your next move, they'll side-step and lay a beating on ya.
Characters and Stories-
most of the characters(havent used them all yet) have a good range of moves (classic characters have old moves back.some are variations)and combos with a fairly decent back story. the only character that i wasnt too impressed with in terms of moves/combos was Havik. while his moves look awesome, giving him 2 taunts(they are awesome taunts though) as special moves is kinda lame. its also good to have a worthy boss character unlike MK4(Shinnok) and MKDA(Shang or Quan).
Konquest-
im somewhat mixed about Konquest. its good to go through and see all of the classic characters again and even fight some. but running around can become quite tedious at times and going through character training is somewhat annoying. especially if you're fighting a "special event"(such as Sindels challenge) match and stuck with a character that you suck with.
Fatalities/Death Traps-
the ones that ive seen are pretty good. theres a good variety of simple yet effective ones and complicated "holy shit" ones and its good to see some of them involving the characters weapons.
the death traps are a nice addition to the game(wish you could turn off the DT markers though). they can seem quite cheap at times, especially when you start a round and knocked into it with the first hit.
overall,id give it a 9-9.5/10.

About Me

...aka BloodLust. =/

Arcade mode - Better than ever. I actually love Noob Smoke as the sub-boss. He really brings back an old school feel, kind of like the endurance rounds in MK1 and MKT. Oh, and finally, a boss that actually puts up a fight before dying. Onaga is not easy, but it's still fun to try and kick his ass.
10/10
Chess Kombat - This is absolutely brilliant. I've never played chess before, but this mode is kickass. It might be only one round of Mortal Kombat to take the square, but it's still great. I also love to see some of the old levels they used in it. The Pit, The Deadpool, The Portal... etc etc.
10/10
Puzzle Kombat - I wasn't really that impressed... I thought there would be more to it, but theres not. It lacks quite a few things. Personally, I think it should have been us fighting on the bottom of the screen, and whoever wins causes the other player's blocks to fill etc etc. Just my opinion, though.
5/10
Konquest Mode - I love this just as much as I love Arcade and Chess Kombat. When you're playing as Shujinko, you must really think about what you're doing. It's fun to run around the realms and find characters to teach you their fighting styles and shit. It's also nice to help people out with sidequests. You get more koins and other things for them. Oh, and try to find as many keys as possible. Some of them unlock special items in the krypt... Like Scorpion's Alt Costume, for one.
10/10
Online - Haven't tried it yet...
?/10
Graphics - Best graphics in a game i've seen in a very long time. 'Nuff said.
10/10
Fighting - Ah yes, the fighting. It has actually somewhat changed since MKDA. I know it's alike in many ways, but there are different things about it. It's also great to see that they gave the uppercut back to most characters. Combo breakers were a nice addition, too. As well as the danger meters under the character's lifebars. They are very helpful this time around.
10/10
Characters - As most of the character designs are awesome, most of their fighting styles are from MKDA. Lets take Havik for exsample. His styles are Snake and Tang So Doo. One was Shang Tsungs, and the other was Quan Chi's, I believe. Sindel also as one of Nitara's fighting styles. It's still great, but the comobs are the same, and you feel like you've already played as the character. Try and get a little original here, midway...
8/10
Fatalities - FLAWLESS VICTORY! I think they are definately more brutal this time around. I also love that each character has 2. In a way, we've already seen the best ones. However, there are still many characters who's fatalities have yet to be seen.
10/10
Death traps - A very nice addition to the game. It's like Boon said, you actually care about which level you want now. The outcome of the fight truely does rely on the level. Not to mention that some of their new level designs are great. Oh, and as I said earlier... It's nice to the see old school levels back in Chess Kombat. The fatalities you can use against them in these levels are better than before.
10/10 -
Well, I think that about covers it... and thats my opinion/review on the game.
All in all... It's either a game you love or hate. I don't think there is really an in-between.

Ok, here goes:
Gameplay/Control: 6/10
The improvements to the MKDA system helped raise the score but more changes should be made, especially to the number of useful moves available. The deathtraps add an interesting dynamic but can really quickly end a match (with Liu Kang, I was able to launch an opponent into a deathtrap in two moves from the FIGHT command). All in all, a step up, but room to grow. It's still the least intuitive major fighting game out there.
Graphics: 8/10
Smooth textures, great animations (except on the face) and fantastic backgrounds raise this score; even the Konquest mode has better graphics than I expected.
Characters/Storyline: 8/10
With the addition of Konquest as well as 24 playable characters, there was a whole lot of story to MKD and while some of it made no sense or seemed unfinished, there was a lot of good stuff in there and nice plot-twist setups for MK7.
Extras/Game Modes: 9/10
Chess Kombat is great fun, Puzzle Kombat is as well. Konquest is fun as well, but less so, probably due to the tedium of running around picking things up (and sometimes waiting simulated months for items to appear). One of the things about Konquest which disappointed me a little was in the training battles where you automatically turned into your opponent. I thought it would've been better to have Shujinko learning the styles with the teacher. All in all, the extras give this game a high replay value,.
Finishing Moves: 9/10
Having now seen almost all the finishing moves in Mortal Kombat: Deception, I can say that, for the most part, they are fresh, inventive and brutal. Some either don't make sense or are poorly executed, but they are by and large the minority. And with Hara Kiri moves included and much easier to execute than Fatalities, the race to FINISH HIM just got a lot more interesting.
Overall: 8/10
It's a vast improvement over Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, but hopefully in the next installment, the development team will look at adding more authentic moves to the various styles and making the game flow just a bit better.

Pretty much the same here. Though I must say that I was surprised by some of the characters. Liu and Kira to be more specific. I was convinced that I wasn't going to like them, I had even hated Kira because I felt that they used a perfectly good chance to make a fresh new character and completely ruined her by making her a combination of two existing characters. However, after playing as her, I have to say i was wrong. She is amazing! Perfect mix of both speed and power and EXCELLENT Combo possibilities. Now, on to Liu. I have NEVER really been a big fan of his. Though It has to be said that he makes a GREAT showing in MKD. He is, like Kira, both Fast and powerful. Also His Combo ability is just plain Ridiculous! Due to the fact that they have changed how his Bicycle kick is done. It's not a charge move any more and makes an EXCELLENT combo finisher for an extra 6 or 7 hits.
My Favorite fatality so far is Mileena's second one.
Over all a rating of 9/10
