Sometime next year, around November I think. Don't hold them to that though, there is no 'set' release date.

Why does it take them 2 years to add a few new features and new characters to MK5 to make MK6?

Other games like Smackdown release a game every year. This year there even adding a new game engine and loads of new features.

Surely if Mortal Kombat was Midways main priority they could knock up a great game easily in a year.

Well, new characters (most likely), new fighting styles, modifying the MKDA engine that they said they are, well, modifying, adding extra interaction (which they said they are), all the designing process, probably some extra features as well (fatalities perhaps, and other features I presume), and this time they are not rushed for a release.

I'm not seeing a problem with the date.
Making a game isn't a cakewalk, they're not just taking MKDA adding 5 new characters and re-releasing it with a survival mode or something.

As much as I was going to call you an idiot for comparing a wrestling game to a fighting game, I do agree I don't see why it NEEDS to be another year away. But the truth is, they spent day and night making MKDA in a year and a half to get it out. This time around they have more time to make the game and more time to spend with their families. You can't expect them to sit and make a game 24/7 year round. Besides and you can mark my words because I just have the feeling for it, MK6 will be to MKDA what MK2 was to MK so just be patient. Not to mention they have to spend the time to code whatever online function they're going to use for all 3 systems.

It all comes down to this:

would you rather have a rushed, half-assed, MK5 rehash?

or

A master piece.

Lets not forget that mk is not the only game midway has to work on. I'm sure a lot of the mk team work on other midway games.

i completely agree. even though i would love it if Mk6 was to be released in a couple of months the fact of the matter is that they are trying to make MK6 a much better experience than MKDA. Not trying to say MKDA was flawed it was perfect, but as with every game they are trying to surpass the predisessor(think thats how u spell it). so for that let them take as long as they want. As long as it is an unforgetable experience like MKDA was. thank you for your time.wink

In my eyes, MKDA is the 'rebirth' of Mortal Kombat. All the critics, and even some fans of MK started to question if MK was still worth anything anymore. Many felt the series should have just been put to rest. Of course, MKDA turned that theory back, but how did MK get in a position to be questioned this way? Simple, Midway released the games to fast. Sure, MK2 was great, people were hungry for the series. I would have held MK3 longer than they did, and they should have not even released UMK3, it was a waste of time really. I'm willing to wait until next year, the year after, or whenever, as long as the game is an improvement over MKDA.

Simple. They don't want to spew out MK games yearly. 2 years is a good time period. It gives the development team a good amount of time to craft even more for us. Pack it full of goodies.

I can't easily wait the extra year to get a lot more content and meat.
