This is a new stage concept which I suddenly had the idea for. The stage itself is influenced by two stages from two of my favourite fighting games - those games being the Sky Stage from Killer instinct and the Final Destination Stage on Super Smash Bros Melee. I have designed it to fit in with MKA’s story and arena design.

The Portal Nexus stage is Blaze’s or Onaga-Blazes’s (or whatever the hell he is) stage. Since Blaze appears on the top of a pyramid in the background of the battle plan on MKA Arcade mode, I’m assuming that it is the pyramid in the Sarna Ruins where Onaga’s Inner Sanctum is (MKD stage) and where the Kamidogou are. So here is how it works.

The Portal Nexus


Stage Overview

The stage is where the final battle takes place and starts off as Onaga’s Inner Sanctum with the Kamidogou surrounding it. It’s exactly as it is in MKD. Blaze has just begun the Kamidogou fusion process and the fight begins. Since each Kamidogou represents the realms, the stage itself suddenly warps and the background disappears along with the Kamidogou. You are now on a circular platform and you’re hovering in the air, far above the ground. The stage will start off like this on versus and immediately warp to start the first round.

Main feature


The warping is the main feature of this arena. The background will suddenly change to one of the six realms of MK that we know of from MKD Konquest. Seconds later, the background switches to one of the other realms and so on. Basically, you’re on a platform suspended in high in the sky and the background, due to the fusion, warps between the six realms the Kamidogou represents. As time passes, the realms will appear to be merged. So there’ll be Chaosrealm mixed with Edenia and so on but they’ll be in a ruinous state.

The Realms and their deathtrap


The arena deathtrap is always the same in terms of how it starts. If you fall off the edge of the arena or are knocked off the edge, you die. There are no Kamidogou here to help you so you have to battle to the death against the boss with no aid. You have to be careful with your footwork or you will die.

Earthrealm

When the arena warps to Earthrealm, you’ll see a beautiful clear blue sky backdrop and you’ll realise that you’re fighting in or just below the clouds as they fly past you. Mountains, rivers, deserts and the rest can all be seen as the camera rotates during the fight and even a bird or two might fly past your epic battle.

If you are sent off the side, the deathtrap here could be one of many things. We can have a Pit 2 style drop the ground or even a fall into a volcano where you are burned alive my the lava. Or you could be smashed against a mountainside and smashed further as you tumble slowly down.

Netherrealm

Once here, the sky changes to a reddish-orange colour and below you will see the denizens of the realm looking up arena or some running around killing others.

If sent off the edge, you will have a long fall to the ground where the Oni and demons of this realm await you. They rip your body apart and eat the flesh off your bones!

Chaosrealm

A hazy mist fills the air here and the background is a yellowish colour. The crazy structures of the realm below and the cliff sides can be seen below as well as the many warps.

The deathtrap here sees you falling into one of those pools that Shujinko found the Kamidogou in. The liquid rapidly ages you and your body eventually withers away. This would be cool to watch with the flesh dropping off and the skeleton turning into dust.

Outworld

The Outworld background is the usual mess of a destroyed realm filled with death, turmoil and destruction.

Now I’ve decided to go for a comedic death here. You fall and hit the ground and you’re obviously dead. But just as your falling, your scream alerts a certain passer by. He watches you fall and die and walks over to you and removes your soul and walks off whistling. Guess who? tongue

Orderrealm

Orderrealms blue sky is your background with a slight haze to it. Below is the ‘city’ at the centre of the realm with the Pyramid at its centre.

Your body freefalls to the surface and is smashed against the side of a building before bouncing on and being impaled on a small spire below. Or, I was thinking that maybe you hit the ground and a group of Orderrealm soldiers pick up your body and throw you off the edge into oblivion!

Edenia

The beautiful Edenian realm appears strikingly like our own only more glamourous and Sindels palace can be seen below.

Death here will see you plummet into the Edenian palce and speared to death by guards who aren’t taking chances thanks to ‘Princess’ Mileena’s orders!


This is just a brief detail of stuff that could happen and there are probably far better deaths and stuff that could happen and a lot more level interaction with things, but I’m keeping the idea for now. What do you think? The name is probably a little lame! Lol!

You were trying to tell me about this earlier, sorry got caught up. I've read it and I'm loving it. I really would love this as a stage it could be briliant. Excellent ideas man.

Nice ideas tgrant you always come u with detailed concepts for everything the MK Team should hire you. And OngBak Assasins Creed is going to be the shit I just hope it comes out on the 360 because I'm not paying $600 for a PS3.

Good job man i liked enviroment change for the realms.Also the battle to watch your footwork is good test skill not just walking in circles.Can't wait for another idea.

I just LOVE your description of Earthrealm, good job! And one of my fave parts was that of Shang Tsung passing by, lol, I can just picture the demon whistling something “sweet” like Gigllys Puff (whatever the hell you spell that pokemons name) lullaby.

Your description of this level is beautiful, difficult but still very interesting, definitely something that would be awesome to see in the next gen mk games.

Good job once again.

Thanks, dude. Watching your footwork should be apart of any stage that has an edge, imo. You should be able to fall out of an arena just like on Soul Calibur. It's silly having some invisble wall keep you from falling so I'd prefer for that to be gone on a stage like this one. Thanks for seeing that as a good element to the arena.

Why would Shang be whistling Jiigglypuff's tune? Have you gone mad? Lol! Wait, you are mad, I forgot! Lol! tongue Him whsitling something sweet would be funny. It'd be a case of catching him off guard.

Perhaps this level or soemthing like it could be saved for next gen MK. Its beauty would probably be captured better I suppose. Glad you like the idea, man! Thanks!

Yeah, he might not but this is just an idea for if he did. Or it could be done where Onaga has started the fusion and Blaze takes over or something.

That's gotta be one of the coolest stage ideas I've read yet. The realm shifting is a neat touch... and the deathtraps being unique to each realm compliments it nicely. Very well done Ty.

I am a happy well adjusted emotinally disturbed person, and for some reason all the raiden sprites keep staring at me I mean it tell them to stop, they are scaring me hides

my friend pred gave me this one, and the avvy that goes with it, but I love the ones flameshang and darkryder gave me too, so expect a cycle of these three folks

love the idea but I have to say this about the outworld death

when you sold your soul to raiden, did you give him your sanity as a free gift or something, oiy I fell on the floor laughing thinking of that one

the chaos realm one creeped me out a bit, water that ages you yikes, fountain of death anyone? edit: and you forgot zattera

Some very nice descriptions T, sounds awesome but there are some drawbacks.

1. How long would would backgrounds stay between warps, because i don't want it to change to quickly as i want to enjoy the background for a while, but matches take between 10-30 seconds. (online excluded at this point) So how long would would backgrounds stay between warps.

2. About the tsung thing. How would this work if you are playing as shang tsung?

3. And if the realms were to 'merge' per se, how would the deathtrap be implemented. How would the stage know what deathtrap to choose. Now i was thinking if there was some invisible line in the stage it self so it knows what deathtrap to choose. (NOTE: this would only work if there was one part of the realm on the left and another on the right.)

Overall: It is still good but just still needs some kinks to work out and some un-finished answers to be answered.

I still think you '5 levels of elements' stage is still the best though.

Awesome idea and good descriptions. I know both the levels you’re talking about, I play ssbm against my brother sometimes on his gamecube.

But, I’d change the earthrealm deathtrap to somehow being struck by lightning. It would be unique since I don’t think any of the other realms have lightning. And I’d change the netherrealm to being tossed in lava, since that’s practically all it is.

Lol! Raiden doesn't own my soul, Lady. Whatever made you think that? Lol! tongue

Haha! Glad you like Shang's little entrance there.

I didn't forget about Zaterra. It's a destroyed realma nd the stage is based off the Kamidogou so Zaterra wouldn't be there. It's not represented by the Kamidogou.

I play online and fights last a full 60 seconds at times and plus you go into the second and third rounds so I'd say a chnage every 10-15 seconds.

The idea is just a rough idea and not everything was covered here. That's why there's theese drawbacks. There'd probably be an alternate deathtrap to compensate for Shang when he's being played as or since he's a sorceror, he could conjure a spell or portal or something and follow you down.

The deathtrap upon stage merger would be a random one of the stages merged. It's easy to implement random stuff and give then a percentage of chance to happen.

Thanks, but to clarify, this stage is a remake of Onaga's Inner Sanctum. It's the arena you fight him in on MKD.

Thanks, dude. I was actually thinking of a lightning deathtrap for Earthrealm which could be the alternate death there. You'd be struck and thrown about by lightning and your body would eventually explode when it couldn't handle anymore.

awww can't reptile get a break? and I remember when I last teased you about your siggy, you said raiden owns you, so techically he owns your soul (god devil thing, I have an odd mind)

Anyway, Zaterrawould be a nice addition, but the realm no longer exists. Maybe an illusionary image of it could appear.
