Theory about the fight between Mileena and Baraka

posted06/28/2004 10:13 PM (UTC)byMaybe in the trailer of Mileena and Baraka fighting, they might not be fighting each other. Like say Mileena thinks Baraka was acting strange and it was actually Shang Tsung morphed into Baraka so that he could deceive her and try to use her to gain power. She could find out and might kill him at the end of their fight and that could be the reason for Shang Tsung not being in MKD. Just a theory I'm probably completely wrong though it's probably really those two fighting unless its a dream or some one is under a type of mind control thing.

Most of the theories that have been circulating are about them fighting for power and alignments with the dragon king so thats most likely the story between the two. I guess we'll find out in a few months.

There surely is alot of deceiving going on in Deception isn't there? It could very well be Shang in disguise. Since the deadly alliance he and Quan Chi had went sour Shang may be morphing into different characters to start a war. Anything is possible at this point.

Good idea bro, but wouldnt Shang Tsung need Barakas soul in order to morph into him?
As far as i know Shang needs your soul if he wants to morph into you.

Not sure your probably right. It was just somethin I was thinking of but I don't think it will happen. But didn't he morph into Kung Lao in the intro of MKDA and he tricked Liu Kang then attacked him but he didn't have Kung Lao's soul.

I don't think so bro. Take Deadly Alliance for example. In the FMV movie at the beginning Shang walked up to Liu Kang disguised as Kung Lao. Kung Lao was in the game, and I don't think anything was mentioned about Shang taking his soul. I believe Shang can morph into whoever he wants whenever he wants. I could be wrong though.

Good question. Storyline wise, that might be the case. However, in previous games Shang has been able to morph into other fighters at will.

Yeah, that is true, though i've always had the impression that Shang morphed into the original Kung Lao and tricked Liu.

Good point Wanderer he just morphed into whichever character he wanted or at least you were able to control him to do that and none of them were dead.

I'm gonna check my handy-dandy strategy guides and read Shangs bios to see if they can shead some light on the subject for us.

Good idea malebolgia that would help us.

WOW!! That was really helpful. *rolls eyes* The bios that I read about Shang only give general info about him. Like him being punished by the Emperor for not winning the MK tournaments, and Shang being held imprisoned by the Emperor. No really useful info for us there. Sorry.

HEY! Thats a really good theory and it might just all fit in since Shang Tsung has not been mentioned and this is a good way to get rid of him..wow...good theory...at first i just thot that Baraka decieved Mileena by helping Tanya or somethin, but yurs is better, it shows how strong MIleena is...good joB!

Thanx EdenianNinja I'm glad you liked the idea.
Here's some info taken from the plot FAQ.
Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung: Despite Shang Tsung's ability to morph and use the abilities of other warriors, he still fell to the might of the Shaolin fighter Liu Kang. Once Shang Tsung received the match ending flying kick, his island began to crumble. Liu Kang left to escape the island rather than chase Shang Tsung.
That's the synopsis for the Liu vs Shang fight. It says Shang could morph into other fighters during their match.
Liu Kang trained at the Shaolin temple, meditating with Kung Lao watching. Only it was actually Shang Tsung disguised as Kung Lao. The two fought with Liu Kang gaining the upper hand. But a surprise attack by Quan Chi ended the fight in Shang Tsung's favor. He snapped Liu Kang's neck and devoured his soul. Mortal Kombat's champion was no more.
Taken from the prologue synopsis of MK:DA. Sorry that I don't remember their name, but someone mentioned this earlier.
Mortal Kombat 1: Elderly Shang Tsung had been hosting the Mortal Kombat tournament for 500 years. One last win would unbalance the furies and allow his master Shao Kahn to enter. But things became desperate when his apprentice Goro had lost to Liu Kang. Shang Tsung used his morphing abilities the best he could against the Shaolin warrior, but in the end he faced defeat. With Sonya and Kano as hostages, Shang Tsung escaped back to his home world where he was reprimanded by Shao Kahn for his failure.
Again, it mentions him morphing during the fight. I'm almost positive he can morph at will without souls, but this information seems to be taken from the comic book where Shang Tsung did morph when fighting Liu Kang.
