theory on DK and Quan chi
after seeing various stages of the DK's lair and spotting a throne featuring what appears to be the amulet (or a like image) and considering that the DK is confirmed to be the final boss, i have come to the conclusion that the DK does have possession of quan chis amulet.
so what does this mean for quan chi? given that he has not been listed in the lineup i got to thinking that perhaps it was not reptile that became the DK but rather quan chi.
think about it...quan could have used the help of shang to clear the way of MK's best fighters so that quan was free to become the dragon king. the strange tattoos on his arms/head may have been more than just for show. remember the symbols came from that tomb or whatever that he found (mkda opening fmv). perhaps those tattoos were actually annointing quan chis body in preparation to become the dragon king.
this would give shang tsung a reason to go into hiding. how would he enact revenge on quan for the betrayal? by posing as his #1 soul liu kang and using his appearance to pool together all the good guys to help him beat quan/DK. If shang is dead then obviously quan/DK killed him which is how liu kangs soul was releasedand now fights again.
btw didnt it say way early in the info release (way back when the first pic of baraka was released) that baraka was going to be quan chi's protector, yet now the latest bio we have is that he is a general of the dragon kings army.

im not saying there was a reason for shang to take liu's soul (is that what youre talking about or DK taking over quan?) shang being resourceful and all knew he couldnt beat quan/DK and so wondered how he could possibly combat such a threat, liu kang's soul just happened to be at his disposal.
tattooing on himself so he wouldnt forget them??? i know that was the *official* reason but pu-lease, mighty sorcerers forgetting symbols of the most important discovery? and besides how is he supposed to see the symbols etched on the top of his head? i didnt see any mirrors in quan chis fortress, so my theory could be valid.
or am i giving to much credit to the "think tank" in the mk development team.

Bingo.
It's my firm belief that if the Dragon King was anyone but the Dragon King, that's what his name would be (Reptile, Quan Chi, etc.) It's also my firm belief that everyone is who they are; no one is anyone else.
Brilliant theory. I also believe that the Dragon King is a status, an entity but not really a character. If Liu Kang unleashed the entity that is the DK, then he will become LIU KANG THE DRAGON KING. That's why he has no name.
Anyways, really good theory. I would much rather have Shang Tsung disguised as Liu Kang than have the actual Liu Kang alive. :)

thanks man. as far as status goes i think we can lay that one to rest, given the abundant pics of the DK. he is very much a real character, though he could be a morphed form? unlikely.

I agree with Daemos. I believe that it's Reptile transformed.
