I found this nice info in a preview on the GameBiz site.
Here's the quote:
"Over time through 6 realms you learn new moves and fighting styles. There are two bosses in each realm which you must defeat."

If they are in fact eventually playable characters, that would then mean 12 more fighters, which sounds pretty damn good to me.
I'm really curious as to if they would make some of these "Konquest Only" though. I wouldn't mind, as it would give Konquest some nice replayability, and give Midway the chance to make us wonder if in fact they are ALL unlockable.
* I'm still not sure about the total number of realms in Konquest mode though. I've read both 5 and 6, so I don't know which one is correct. But, either way, it sounds killer.

From the E3 footage I saw Boon stated that it was 6.

The extra unlockable characters have no endings? Thats pretty crap.

Maybe the end guys wont be extra end guys but thats just how u unlock the main char on the select screen first. I could be wrong, i dont know. Like say Sindel could be a end guy for Edenia

Well at least there are bosses, even if they are regular characters, to keep things intersting. Good news indeed

From what I could gather through various talks from E3...it sounds like there will be hidden characters (moves, fatalities, endings and all)...and there will also be a selection of MK:DA characters playable, however they won't have endings and such (probably moves/fatalities though). Maybe they will just use their packages from MKDA???
Also, with the 2 bosses in each realm for Konquest...I deffinatly think they shouldn't be playable!!!

I would love to see Shinnok return, that would be so cool. Maybe he will because we did see Sindel using a weapon that was just like his in Mk4.

earth: kung lao, rayden
outworld: rain, khan
netherrealm: reiko, shinnok
edenia: kitana, king jerrod
