If you think strategy is fun, you will take this seriously. If you don't, then this probably wo'nt interest you.
I sincerely believe that the weapon system in MK4 was the best implimentation of the system. It was simply unique, and original. Why the heck they would sell out an original system for one that so resembles Soul Calibur's (although not as complex) I don't understand. Now, Mortal Kombat is definitely not all about the weapons. But, if you're going to have a weapon system (which was a genius addition), why not have a more strategic one. MK4's weapon system, alone, added a level of depth and strategy to the game (because of the game's simplicity). Of course, there were not a lot of moves (then), so, I can understand why some people complained. There was also the weapon drawing, which I later learned that people thought was too slow. However, I pesonally had no problem with the weapon drawing. That was a strategy, in itself. Seeing who could draw the fastes, I thought was very fun...
I think that it would work very well in MK:Deception, and it does not have to hender branch combos, at all. In fact, it could improve the combo system, if executed in a certain way. In order to get quick access to your weapon, it would have to be part of your combo (also done in MK4). And, if it is accessed, during a combo, you get to do a secret move with your weapon. This make the combo system more versatile, and would give a more exiting reason to perform style branch combos. And, with weapon drawing being in full motion, you would have to use your mind to predict when is the right time to pull it out (if your character is far away from you)trying to get your out at the right time. This would add a little more strategy and intensity to the fighting system--something that is definitely needed. What do you think?

i liked both the only thing i didnt like in da's wuz u couldnt knock the weapon out.
I personally didnt like the MKDA's way of how the weapon just appeared in the characters hands when you changed styles. It would be much cooler to see how different characters draw their weapons, like scorpion taking it from his back, kano from his boots,Sub-zero freezing it to his hand and Baraka putting the blades out from the wrists...etc. Its just dumb looking when you change from weapon style to hand to hand style how the weapon just dissappears, man where the hell do the characters put them, where do they get them etc...It jus a little thing, but to me its the tiny details that make the game more fun and "realistic".
