Now that we're on the second day since it's unveiling, and some of the hate has died down....I hope I can say this without TOO much flame but...MK vs DCU will probably be a huge success sales wise. Midway is in financial trouble, and I imagine DC will really push for aggressive marketing for the game (They do with all their stufff), which in turn will land Midway a boat load of cash. MK is their most successful IP, and is well recognized, and I imagine it will be well-recieved reviews wise (It already impressed the hell out of a couple of game sites that got exclusive access to things they can't show us yet). Mk vs DCU will be looked upon both by (most) fans and critics alike as a success, and With their bank accounts refueld, Midway Chicago will have the resources to make MK9 the bloody, ruthless stand alone MK all of us want as well.

I remember gamespot saying that they were "coming clean," stating that they had much more information about the roster than they were allowed to tell us. If they are more impressed than we are with MK vs. DC, than they probably know something we don't.

If I see Smoke as a confirmed character, only then will I reconsider buying the game. But I doubt that. Typically, whenever they say, "we're reinventing the series," what they really mean is, "we're going to give you a safely bland roster of MK character which will of course only please moderate fans who don't know anything about Smoke or Jade, or are even aware that Ermac exists." Hell, if they put in Mokap, I'll actually tip my hat to them.

They'll obviously pick the most popular MK characters to be in the roster. Besides Sub and Scorp, I'd imagine Raiden, Noob, Lui Kang, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Shao Khan and Sonya would be in the game.

I'm almost positive it'll be a huge financial success. Spike will get behind it, make up some stupid award to give it, and the whole marketing machine will be turning overtime to shill this mess. And people will buy it because consumers are in general quite fucking stupid. A cool trailer on television? Awesome. I'll pick it up after I'm finished watching whatever celebrity voice acted animated film is coming out this month and drinking whatever this months new flavour of Coca Cola is.

Whether or not it'll actually be a sucessful (ie: good) videogame is another issue entirely.
