The thing about MK that made it so visually appealing before was there was the right amount of balance in the characters looks. I think they should dress it down more make it more mysterious.
It's cool to revamp things but it's really starting to get way too dressy, simplicity is always the key to balance.
I wasn't that impressed by most of the charcter designs in MKDA, sub zero, kung lao, kenshi, frost, kitana however did have good balance and were not "overdressed"
I think the characters are "too detailed"
not everyone is impressed by bravado and flash.
Sure the darkness might be back but the character's sense of mystery is gone, the characters are too spelled out.

actually i liked the detail.. i finally got to see the true scorpion.. his large arms.. veins and every thing it was cool.. i was traumatized by the graphics.. thats the other thing.. with deception.. how will it be able to compair with the graphics of da when it came out 2 years ago? i mean.. i doubt that the graphics would have changed much.. eventually every thing comes to the point were it can't get any more detailed with out being real..

I think ermac and n00b look great compared to their bland 2d counterparts.

You're missing the point, it's things like jewellery and unessesary armour, swords that you dont use, crap like that. Noob looks good, ermac looks good xcept for jewels and crap.
The characters are not royalty, they are warriors.

agreed, one of the things I didn't like of MKDA. Thousands chaines, medallions, supersized handgloves, etc. In sum cases like raiden where it suited him well, but he was one of few. I think the alternate subzero look in Deception is the right direction tough... IMO

I saw MK: DA'sShang Tsung I think back in Dec 2002 or Jan 2003 sometime. The 1st thing I thought was that he was too heavy clothed. Once I saw MK: DA in action I reversed my thought about it. I too am having mixed feelings about outfits( like Sub-zero new look. At the same time I know it will grow on me,seeing the game characters in action and seeing it a pic is very differant, at least for me. Even now the new sub's new look is growing on me!!!! X_x

Yeah, everything in MKDA had to grow on me. Especially after being used to how simple their looks were in the previous games. I loved the looks of all the ninjas. Looked built for speed and power you know, total freedom. The new costumes seemed more restrictive. But once I got that game at home my views were totally reveresed. Love the costumes now. Especially Scorpion's. I'm sure these will grow on us all tooe(as much as Sub-Zero looks like the Shredder).
