mmm...street fighter IV got DLC....and NO signs from "Mk vs DC" yet?...that sucks...really...
Here's the thing about DLC...
For a fighting game, you need to have the "DLC" already on the disc itself if you fight someone else, because when you play online, they need to be able to read the data as well, otherwise it would screw everything up. So, it basically means, either DLC has to be on the disc already OR they have to give every player of the game a mandatory upgrade of the game and install new information on your harddrive.
... I'm assuming the MK team hasn't taken this stuff into account yet.

That's completely false. Ever play any games on your PC? Hell, ever play Uno on the 360 with a special deck someone else doesn't have? It uploads it to their system in a temp folder before the game can start, and removes it after a couple of weeks. Steam works this way too.

The Ps3 just gives a mandatory update installed via HDD and i dont think u can play online without it. so I think thats the end of that debate. because every online player would have to have the DLC to go on, but then any player not having payed cant go online, so i would immagine they would do a COD4 thing, cant use or play with any DLC unless both parties have it, your DLC would be locked.

And that's exactly why you can't play those maps; you don't have the necessary information available to read all that data. Some small items, yes, like a low-poly accessory item or perhaps a different colored weapon, can be stored in temporary RAM, but it's not designed to hold enough information to calculate entirely new levels, textures, animations, skins, rigs, and other program data. For a fighting game, it's simply impossible to read all that information and allow a real-time match to exist.
For a game like Halo, the simple solution is that the maps are locked out, allowing only people with the maps to play other people with the maps while everyone else plays somewhere else. You COULD do that in a fighting game, but who'd want to create an entire new lobby system to accomodate one or two additional characters? It's not very practical or economical.
Again, what you COULD do is do what Capcom is doing for Street Fighter IV, which is going to give out a free/mandatory install and upgrade of the game to allow for more features. Something like that could install the information automatically to everyone's game, even if the information isn't readily noticeable or available. But again, that could be a hassle, depending on how much memory the new content would take up.

But isn't that what Burnout Paradise does? It makes you download a game update, which puts all the DLC locked onto the hard drive?
I mean, when I bought the legendary cars, that download was like 100 kilobytes. But the update for the game that came out that day was over 100 megs.

Not true .Capcom DLCs are in the game because they want the players to pay for things already made and put in the game .Many people say this as an excuse when they are conforted with the statments Capcom wants to steal their fans to the most .
MK team did not have enough time to do the DLCs things .And I am sure when anyone asks them about the DLCs their excuse will be ""we are working hard on MK9"" and I cant blame them .
The only thing that I think they should do is releasing a patch to fix the savings glitches (which are not that big deals but people consider them because its Mortal Kombat ) and two fatalities for Shao Kahn and Dark because those two are supposed to have ones in the first place.
Other than that the team is not to be blamed for not releasing DLCs .
I cant do anything but laughing of the people ( in other forums ) who bought the game for DLCs .Instead of buying it for 22 characters they bought it for 4 characters at most .
Do people lack brains these days .

DLC may or may not come. If you heard some of the MKasts during the hype they did say that the "Architecture" to implement DLC and updates was already in the game.
Obviously the data isn't already on the disc. All of those 400 MS points would come in handy by now.
It wouldn't surprise me now that all work is going into Mortal Kombat 9 or even a DC Universe fighting game running from the same engine. You never know with Midway.

Why not? I admit its wild speculation, but no one thought the MK Vs DCU rumours were real.
Plus it seems DC are finally moving into video games more: DC Universe Online and Arkham Asylum are both coming out soon and they dont look that bad. Maybe Midway wont be making a DC Universe fighting game, but to instantly poo poo the idea of a DCU Fighting game for some unknown reason it very silly.

Listen to me .I am 100 % sure that the next MK is MK9 .I have my own sources .Dont waste your time thinking of it as A DC fighting game because it is not .I did not poo poo the DC characters .Look I may dont like DC .I may hate the characters but I never insult its fans .Trust me in this the next game Midway is making is MK9 .Is it MKvsDCU 2 ?
Is it MK only ?
I dont know .But I am sure 100000% that it will have MK characters .So, no it wont be a DC characters only game .
Also, I am sure about 80% that it will be MK characters only .

Fuck me, you've got sources too? Is this source Ed Boon saying that he is working on MK9 just before Midway filed for bankruptcy?
Plus if you read my last post properly: I also said *maybe* Midway wouldn't be the ones to make a DC Fighting game. Unless you have sources in every developmental studio out there.
Also Percentages are awesome. 58% of people agree with that.

Do you think I am stupid enough to call Ed Boon saying as a source ?
Dont be rude .No MK9 was confirmed to me after Midway signed Bankruptcy chapter 11 this source is a member of the team one of the sounds members .
Again dont be rude .If I hated DC characters that doesnt allow you to insult me and joking on me .No company is stupid enough to risk putting DC characters in their games .Midway did it and succeded .But that was stupid .
And the precentage you joking about was based on many things .Things that you wont want to understand them .

Right, no more beating a dead horse for me.

the game is already done so that means there is DLC
Garlador: My response to your comment you made about it being mandatory for DLC to be available on the disc or hdd is if your remember back in MK Armageddon when you had create a fighter the opponents character was loaded online in real time, there would be no possible way midway would come up with the same millions of combonations of diffrent characters you can make and put it onto a ps2 disc. so that proves my point that the DLC can be loaded online in real time and if the ps2 could handle that I'm sure the PS3 and 360 could! and BTW Ed did confirm many-a-time that MKvsDCU was already prepared for DLC

If there were DLC released, a patch would also be released so that people who don't have the new DLC character or arena would be able to see them when fighting online.
And I don't want DLC for this game. All the focus should be on MK9.
