I know a lot of people want only one hand to hand style per character, but I think more style variety adds to characterization. There's been a lot of discussion about the three-style system, and I think, as it's used in the game (which isn't to say the styles should be kept exactly as they are), it should remain; however, I think it should be possible to unlock up to five styles and three weapons per character. Each character would start out with two hand to hand styles and one weapon, but perhaps through the krypt/konquest/beating the game a certain way, or whatever, new styles could be unlocked. Of course, some of the styles would have to be shared, but the styles and weapon automatically available would be unique for everyone, and the unlocked styles that are shared would play slightly differently for each character. For example, say two characters could use jujitsu. Each would have several common moves, but where one would have throws, the other would have joint locks. In other words, just three or four moves would be changed in each repeated style to add variety.
I think this could greatly add to the characterization and replay value of the game. Any opinions on whether or not this sounds like a good idea? Any specific ideas on how it could be implemented so that it isn't too simple, like just unlocking it in the krypt?
