Using Mic on playstation online mod

I cant figure out how to turn mic on to talk. I can hear my oppent saying hello a billion times but no idea what button push to say something back. Any chance some one might tell me the secert of turning on your mic to talk back?

All you have to do is press the select button to toggle it on or off. :)
