What do you reckon? should the weopans anonymously appear in the air in the fighters hands or should the pull it out of their location, wherever it is on their body?
Not many ppl liked it when they saw that the weapons were appearing in the fighters hands out of nowhere on MK:DA...
But i think that it makes more sense when you think about game fluidity, so that the fight goes faster... But it makes more sense if you think about it in the Realness of the game for the weapons to be pulled out...
but some fighters dont need to pull their weapon out, for instance Rayden couldve just put his hand up in the air, and his staff couldve transformed from electricity...
but for swords, its better for the ninja's to pull 'em out...
what do u think?

It doesn't matter to me whether or not the weapon just appears or is pulled out. I just want the weapons that are being carried match the weapon being used. For example: Rayden's alt costume in MKDA had him carring a samurai sword at his side, but it would disappear and his fighting staff would show up when you used the weapon fighting style.

Weapons should be pulled out. I did not like the fact that scorp, had two swords on his back that never could be used.

If the MK developers wanted to be cheap about it, they could do a quick 2-3 frame animation of the character drawing the weapons out of...??? That still leaves the issue of drawing weapons out of thin air. If the weapons are parked somewhere on the body while not in use, this presents two problems: One, unless the weapon were a separate entity, I think the number of character models would have to be doubled - one with weapon, one without. Two, the character would have to reach for the weapon, wherever it is located on the body, which would likely be different for each character. Thus the animation could not be universal.
Also, an argument for weapons not being pulled out and just appearing: How else could style-branch combos be performed? Unless the opponent were "dizzyed" during the combo, allowing the player time for the weapon-draw animation, I don't see how it could be done.

I agree to a certain point. For realism sake they should be drawn. However the problems with this that you pointed out are valid. What if they could be drawn when your simply moving to your weapon style, not in the middle of a combo. Then when your perfoming a branch combo they could just appear. However this idea makes things even more difficult, and also why would they do it both ways? So just disregard the last part.

yeh theyll have to add a few more frames in, but i dont think so theyd have to have 2 different models of the characetr (with the weopan & without the weapon) if theyre smart enough they can get around it without having to create 2 different character models...
i dont knoiw how it would work in a middle of a combo but, if the drawing of the weapons are real fast, it could work you know :)

I want them to make the animations of the weapons being drawn. The only exception would be Sub-Zero's, kori blade and Frost's daggers. They were made of thin air that was frozen. So we'd have to see an animation for that.

i dont think it would be good if they had an animation for weapons being drawn because then one cant really pull off a combo ending with the weapon from a hand to hand fighting stance. you would have to wait for that little animation to come out and would kind of ruin it. the way they had it was good in DA, just like previously stated, i didnt like seeing weapons on a characters body and not being used at all, such as scorpions' swords on his back, or kanos' blades by his legs.

I like this idea. I think its better if your not able to pull out a weapon while getting hit by your opponents combo. It would made it look more realistic. The only time you should be able to pull out your weapon is when your open.

I forgot to say this. As for when YOU are doing the juggling combo, it should just appear in your hand like Tomtaz said.

In terms of increasing realism weapons should be drawn out, these are supposed to be hardened warriors fighting for their lives, I think they should be able to draw their weapons fast enough, theyve had years of practice. Surly programming a fast weapon draw cant be that hard, weapons should be located on the body for easy access anyway.

I think the weapons should be pulled out. I honestly tried my best to like the system, in MK:DA, but, to me, it was kind of inconsistent with MK's atmosphere. I don't know if you can understand this. It seems like it would fit better in a game like Streetfighter (if it included weapons). Mortal Kombat is more of a serious martial arts game (even with it's humorous tendencies). I would choose weapon drawing over mid-air, any day.

For the sake of originality, I'd rather the weapons be pulled out, in full motion. I say this because this is MK's own system, which they innovated in MK4. I really did'nt like the system in Deadly Alliance, because, personally, it reminded me too much of Soul Calibur. I felt like they were kind of selling out. I think that they should keep thier own system (MK4), which is actually more strategic.
May I also add, a weapon draw does NOT have to be slow. If you watch kung Fu movies...very seldomly do you ever see a fighter take more than 1 second to pull out a weapon. And for combos sake, if you remember MK4...combos were'nt hendered at all, because, the weapons were pulled out lightning fast, when you chnged into weapon style, during a combo. So, to say that this is hard to do is not completely true.

I would definitely prefer that they be pulled out, in full motion, when you are strictly using them as your fighting style. I did'nt think there was anything wrong with MK4's fighting system, besides there not being enough moves. Not only for realism, but, I think that it's more strategic, to have to pick to pull out your weapon. Mortal Kombat is not all about weapons, anyway...it should'nt be so easy to use them, I think. To me, that takes some of the fun (intensity) away from the fight, because of the lack of strategy involved. So, I really really really hope that they consider using the original system, more unique system.

Why not expand the idea for all characters that have elemental and/or sorcerous abilty. For example, Rayden is a god, shouldn't he be able to summon his weapon out of mid-air.
