What if the Amulet was indeed a fake?

Think about it? If it were the real amulet, wouldn't Quan Chi have defeated Raiden and the Dragon King easily? He killed Shinnok with a blast and was immune to projectiles. What if someone switched them, maybe Quan or maybe Shang Tsung himself.
Also why would Quan Chi leave the amulet behind? He wasn't vaporized, he had no remains, neither did Raiden or Shang Tsung they just disappeared. I'm betting they are one of the super unlockables.

What exactly the Amulet does is up in the air.
MKM says it gives Shinnok the power to rule Earth without interference from the other Elders. Why? How? It's never explained. It just does.
MK4 shows Quan Chi no sell a fireball and blast Shinnok to bits. Why? How? Never said.
MKDA says it's actually the key to interdimensional travel and somehow connected to that runestone which lead him to the Dragon Kings army. What happened to the green energy zapper? Why is it just now a key to portals? No explination.
I don't think Tobias or Vogel know what exactly the deal is.
What's funny is, in MKDA it hypes up how Quan can move through different dimenions, but HE ALREADY HAD THAT ABILITY. MK4 had put him over as a "free roaming sorcerer" who could travle the realms anyway. That silly Vogel!

Well, I think we're forgetting the key idea here that we don't know how much of MK4 is true or how it ended.
Did Quan Chi do it? Did Baraka do it? Did Liu Kang do it? Nobody knows, and Boon and co doesn't really seem to care about cleaning that plot up since Tanya and the Prison stage are rally the only indication we have that they even acknowledge that game even happened.
It's clear, Quan Chi has some hella powers. We know he survived REPEATED beatings from Scorpion in hell, we know he single handedly created an infinite soulnado for Shang Tsung, and we know it was his work that took Liu Kang down. Now the intro shows that he is clearly the superior sorcerer, Raiden beats Shang around like a chump, but Quan goes the distance. The skullo shield? Come on. He takes Shang down single handedly, and he stands alone against the DK for a minute.
Wether this all comes from the amulet, or because he spends all his time in that "chamber" of his, or if he's just that strong on his own we don't know.
But clearly, Quan's got an edge on everyone else and the only real explanation I can come up with is the amulet.
