I think dragon king might have resurrected Cyber Smoke's soul or something, and created the body that we see in deception. Hence the crown on Smoke's head. Everyone with that crown on their head seems like their under the control of the dk (li mei, raiden, etc.)

This is what I've heard. Smoke was killed in Mortal Kombat 3; since he was never given the chance at redemption that other assassins like Sub-Zero and Kitana were, he descended into the Netherealm. There, he encountered Noob Saibot. The two formed a shakey alliance in order to escape. Now that Noob helped Smoke escape, Smoke serves Noob out of gratitude.

Sub Zero, Noob and Smoke are pretty much 3 forms of Shredder now. TMNT better watch out!

To the person who made this thread: Smoke never worked for Shao Kahn. In MK2, Smoke accompanied Sub-Zero in Outworld to Shao Kahn's tournament.
In MK3, Smoke was a cyborg who was programmed to hunt down Sub-Zero. After that, we never knew what happened to him though telling from Smoke's ending that Sub-Zero helped Smoke regain his memories. That part of the ending may or may not have happened, but I'm sure we'll find out in MK: Deception.

ok smoke was sub-zero's best friend in MK 2 then the Lin Kuei was turning ninjas into robots and caught smoke while sub zero was able to escape. After Smoke had been transformed into a robot he was programmed to kill sub-zero, but he couldn't because some of his memory still some what existed. After this Smoke journeyed across the land seeking for someone who could transform him back into human form. Along this way Smoke learned to further his skills of controlling smoke. After searching for a cure in vain and becoming a more skilled fighter smoke returns to sub-zero and the Lin Kuei only half-cured. It is at this point in which Smoke decides to take on pupils as sub-zero did frost, and he begins to train a new comer known as noob saibot. Smoke, having been gone for so long has no idea who this shadow warrior is but nevertheless, trains him in the ways of smoke. Although smoke has now become a dedicated teacher he still searches for some sort of cure or someone who may be able to return him to his human form...
well that's just a combination of truth and my theory so...
but it also could be that along his quest for his human body, Smoke ran into Onaga and was promised his human body back if he swore allegiance to him and fought for him. Noob Saibot may have been promised something similar about the resurrection of his master, Shao Kahn, and thusly noob and smoke fight side to side under the power of the Dragon King
but these are just personally my theories

That would make a lot of sense if this were true.

I think Ashrah and Raiden are foot soldiers, if SubZero/Smoke/Noob are shredders lol

Anyway, Noob Saibot is now his own boss of things and plans to have his own legion of assassins and I bet Smoke is his first and top recruit.

I will admit I was never a fan of his, mainly because he was another boring pallet-swap scorpion clone, BUT, he definitely looks amazing In MKD. Cant wait.
BTW, he was better in Mk3 as a robot, but we also had Cyrax and Sektor, who played even better then he did so he never really had the chance to shine.
He has potential, and hopefully the team will reveal us more about him in this new game.

yeah i know, but he's standing with them in that picture of shujinko and konquest. that's why i made this thread, cause i'm uber confused about his sotryline.
