What is your favorite MK game so far, and why?
Out of all the MK games, what was the best one to have ever come out.
For me, it was MK 2 because it went further then the first game and it was fresh and new.
I will say however that MK: Deadly Alliance seemed to be like a MK 1 and MK: Deception is the sequal. I am not going to count MK 4 into the 3D fighting world. It was ok, but Deadly Alliance was the first true 3D fighter of the series.
That is my outlook anyway.

i agree, mk da is like mortal kombat 1 and MK:D is going to be like mk2 ... good comparison.... My favorite mk would have to be mk2, but the one i played most was mk triolgy for ps, i loved all the charaters..
Deadly Alliance is definitley my favorite. I loved the fighting styles, the weapons, the moves, etc. Yes I will admit that some of the Fatalities sucked. But the ones that were good, I found to be really good. I liked most of the characters in the game, except for a few. The stages were also awesome to fight in.
But now all and all, Deception will surpass all of that. So if you want to know what my favorite released Mortal Kombat is, it's Deadly Alliance, but Deception will by far become my favorite once it's out.

Mk2 because it had the best 2d graphics and it had Reptile
hence my name lol , mk2 gave the game a darker feel so i really loved it
Each game had it's own positives and negatives:
Keep in mind everything I have in here is my own opinion, and I'm sorry if you don't agree with my opinions of characters/games/moves/ideas/etc. If you disagree, I'm not asking for a flame, I'm just stating MY opinion on the matter, and as much as I love a good debate, I'd rather not flood the board with point/counterpoint, so if someone responds to directly me, don't expect a reply unless it is pretty clear it won't respond in a point/counterpoint or flamefest. Thanks.
Mortal Kombat: The original! This game brought violent combat to the forefront of popular culture, and was an almost immediate cult and pop culture classic. Looking back on it now, we'd laugh at the graphics, but they were quite revoultionary at the time. The 'Test Your Might' minigame was something unique, and the fatalities made a new phrase popular... "FINISH HIM!!!" Also, every character had his/her own unique storyline. Street Fighter had the same thing, but these stories were more planned out, and all the characters seemingly connected together quite well. Too bad SNES released it with grey "sweat" blood. Was the first mainstream fighting game to include a "hidden" character in Reptile. Hell, they did it so well, just about everyone still remembers how to access him (Double Flawless/Fatality on the pit stage)
Mortal Kombat 2: Time was spent on this one! They took everything good from the original (fatalities, character/character design), and doubled it. Also included Friendships and Babalities, a unique break from the gorefeast. Sonya and Kano were removed from the active selection process, and replaced with characters (who I felt) who were much better (The ninja twins Kitana and Mileena, a DECENT Reptile, a playable Shang Tsung w/ morphing abilities, and Baraka). The hidden characters were: Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot. All in all, an excellent sequal, and if it were it's own standalone, then an excellent game in its own.
Mortal Kombat 3: Such high expectations were set for this game. People were expecting a leap as huge from MK2, similar to what they recieved from 1 to 2, and were quite disappointed. I'd be lying if I said I was not let down, but it was still a decent game. The run button was quite the letdown, since most other fighters included a "Dash" and "Evade" feature, it was a poorly done addition which lead to more confusion to the novice, while the masters took to this game like flies to crap. Some of the new characters seemed rushed and uninspired (i.e. Sheeva, Nightwolf, Striker, and Kabal), which lead to me shunning the new guys for the more "experienced" of the group (i.e. Kano, Liu Kang, and Sub-Zero). The game also added quite cartoonish fatalities (I will never forget how stupid I thought the Jax fatality was... until I did his Deadly Alliance one...) Also, the addition of "Mercy" was a nice touch, but it shouldn't have been needed before the "Animalities", nor should the third round have been needed. All in all, not a BAD game, per say, if it were it's own fighters game, but it wasn't the huge jump over 2 that the fans of the series were expecting.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: This was a step in the right direction, adding more characters (i.e. Kitana, Jade, Mileena, "Masked" Sub-Zero, Reptile, Scorpion, and Ermac), and was probably what MK3 SHOULD have been. Other than the minor updates, not too much was touched upon.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy: The first "Straight-to-home" of the series (not including Mythologies and Special Forces). Now THIS is what Mortal Kombat 3 should have been, with every character ever made in it. Playstation's version ousted Nintedo's with the addition of Goro, Shao Kahn, Kintaro, and Motaro as openly playable characters, and hidden Mortal Kombat 2/Throwback characters (I believe it was Kung Lao, Rayden, Jax, and Kano), a nicely done game. It was also fun to play some of the minigames, like pong. If this were released as Mortal Kombat 3, then the fans probably would have been more open to it!
Mortal Kombat 4: Hey, it made it to four. Take THAT, Street Fighter and World Heroes! The original MK4 had a few kinks in it, the graphics were seemingly quite experimental (they were originally tapping into the whole 2.5 dimentional graphics). They dropped a LOT of characters, but kept the core "important" ones. The update didn't add any new characters, but fixed the glitches, and added a second fatality to each person. After the update, this became my favorite fighting game ever. Most of my original favorites had nice costumes (I LOVED Sub-Zero's masked figure, with frozen arms and legs!), but the new characters left quite a bit to be desired (Reiko was, and always will be, one of the most uninspired designs in a fighting game... ever! I always thought he was Ermac unmasked...) All in all, probably my favorite Mortal Kombat of the group.
Mortal Kombat Gold: It's unfair that I say anything about this game, considering I've never played it, but judging from some of the videos online, some of the fatalities of the returning characers looked like a Gameshark addition (i.e., it looked like someone hacked them in poorly and quickly). Still, if THIS were the version that came out for 4, then it WOULD probably be the best fighting game I've ever played (that honor goes to Marvel vs. Capcom 2)
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - When I first saw this game, I never gave it the proper time of day. I rented it, and shunned it for it's "poor storyline" and such. But I found it online for 13 bucks, and picked it up. Glad I did, it has been quite the rewarding experience. The fatalities in this game are among the most tacky and stupid ones ever (Need I mention Quan Chi's, Jax's, Sonya's, Mavado's, and Reptile's was relativly stupid too.. why would he burn off all the meat and flesh of the character's face, THEN proceed to eat the empty bones?) But actually getting INTO the game was pretty rewarding. It also was the debut of my favorite fighting game character ever, Kenshi. SO much originality for this guy! I'm really glad to see his return in Deception. However, it also houses the worst characters ever made: Bo Rai Cho, Mavado and Hsu Hao. Horrible, horrible designs!!!
Mortal Kombat Deception: Well, it's unfair to get TOO in depth on a game that I've never played. I will admit that I was upset to see the return of characters who I never thought should have been given the time of day (i.e. Bo Rai Cho, Nightwolf, Ermac, and Noob Saibot), and some characters don't seem very promising (Ben seems like nothing more than the "Dan" of the series), but the look of Nightwolf so far has impressed me, and hopefully he can evolve into a DECENT character (it will take quite a bit more to make him a GOOD character)
