Basically, when a company doesn't have the time, resources, or respect for their fans to create the best and most complete game they can, they ship it out irregardless. Then, they can charge a person cash money for characters, areas, or other such things that should've been in the game in the first place.

Granted, there is some bona fide good DLC (Halo 3 and COD4 map packs), and even some good free DLC (Crackdown's free-for-all content), but a lot of DLC is just lazy and overpriced (The master of arbitrary moneygrabbing is Namco/Bandai; seriously, I love Ace Combat, but AC6 wasn't all that good in comparison to other games in the series and no amount of idiotic paint schemes that cost far more than they're worth is going to change that fact).

Frankly, since DLC seems a distinct possibility, there are several possible routes for it to go; reasonably-priced add-ons that legitimitely add to the game, stuff that the game should've included in the retail game and now their just charging us for stuff that should've been included at retail, and overpriced crap. I'd say chances are good we'll be seeing some bullshit DLC.

Actually, Downloadbale Content from a game makers perspective if much different from a Game Players.

If I cannot convince the fan base as a game maker that the characters I've thrown into the mix is right I would have to push the game back so far to recode WHAT PEOPLE WANT. Or, with new technology I can make the game, sell the game to the people who will buy it, and add DLC as an option later to the people who really wanted this guy or that guy or this thing or that thing. Why not? You can't please everyone with one solid game... so give em the option to have what they want.

Thankyou

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!!!

Seriously, I am happy to see there are still people around with enough of a character to bounce back at game developers and demand a completed product..
I like buying a completed game, not some 90% unfinished product then having to pay for the rest later.

Its like buying a bigmac, Except there is no beef and you have to pay for that on its own.

In some aspects I agree, But for the most part i don’t.
If a game developer is concerned about satisfying there fan base then they will take the extra steps before releasing a product and not after.

Perfect example = DOAU on the original xbox.
Instead of having one or two character outfits each character had a full wardrobe with some of the females having up to 20 different outfits.

Offcourse, Team Ninja have also changed in time.

Anyway, the blame falls squarely on the people who pay for the content..
Sorry guys, But if you keep paying you keeping getting ripped off.

DLC is a good thing. I'd rather have the game earlier then pay to have it upgraded

There have been a plethora of DLC threads, a couple of which are still active. Since this question has been answered I'm going to close this.
