I hope someone else has thought of this. Why didn't the MK team make a DC fighting game and then make a MK fighting game? Use the same engine, double the cash, not taint either franchise and make fans happy!
To make the games look different they could do cell shaded graphics for the DCU game.

Cell shaded graphics are cool for anime like games, but I don't see it fitting MK's world honestly, or DC really. Mugen vids it's cool I suppose but for a real game, I'm more for that realistic, darker approach Midway/DC has taken.
Boon did say btw man, that this isn't canon with the MK storyline and is/will be a side game event.
I know you want to separate games but that defeats the crossover purpose.

A DC game? No. They should keep the "MK vs." thing and make a side series out of that to co-exist with the real MK games.

It is how Capcom started the whole Marvel Vs thing though.
First it was Xmen: Children of the Atom, then Marvel Super Heroes, Then it was Xmen Vs Street Fighter and so on.
I think gradually building into it saved Capcom a lot of grief from fans. Plus I don't think Street Fighter fans are as "Super Serial" as some of these MK fans.
I've just picked up the 3 hardcover volumes of Justice and it was awesome and it would be perfect for this sort of game.
They could then focus their energies on a New Mortal Kombat when the DCU game was over and done with. Even if the roster would be pretty much the MK1 Roster and the MK2 Roster.

What is the reason for crossover? Two dying brands merge to become something successful? Quick cash grab? Giving the fans a deadly world vs a heroic world where justice prevails? I can't say I've read on the forums of people begging for a MK vs DC crossover game before it was announced. I was meaning DC has their own fighting game with the MK engine and MK has its own fighting game with the MK engine.

No one asked for this game, Boon just thought it would be a cool idea. It actually is a cool idea, but MK8 is cooler imo. I'm glad this is non-canon otherwise this game would've ruin MK's franchise. What is nice, is since this is a non-canon side game can you imagine the possibilities they now have in mind with this kind of thing. They could do another crossover which I wouldn't care too much about. But they could alter parts of the MK story, like I always had in mind, a Civil War between the heroes with Raiden leading half of them down his corrupted path, and Fujin leading the other half against him. I've had this idea since Deception and then I found out that Marvel comics had a Civil War type story too. I read up on it and it was pretty good.
Point is, they can do "What If" stories, like what if Liu Kang didn't win the first tournament and Goro won allowing Earthrealm to be merged with Outworld. What if Shao Kahn succeeded in his invasion of Earthrealm. What if Shao Kahn never killed Onaga and was always his lead advisor. What if Shinnok wasn't defeated. Too many ideas that could be banked on.

It's DC and MK in the same game. It's final. Deal with it.

Why the fuck worry about it anymore? It's not like they're gonna be like, "You're right! Lets scrap it and just do seperate games!!"

True, but some people like to discuss on a forum! (SHOCK! HORROR!) Besides this is just a "what if I were ruling Midway" topic.
I haven't seen an overly angry post in this thread yet. Not on the scale of "OMG! FUCK YOU ED BOON!" >=:(
Thats supposed to be tears by the way. Angry tears.

Neither one is dying as you say, MK is still going on despite the endless bitching about "why one hates it" it still brings in money and still has a lot of fans.
As for DC, well they're hardly "dying" you see they just aren't very "video game crazy" and hardly put out any good games sadly, JL:Heroes was good though, but for a fighter DC hasn't been in the spotlight since SNES/Sega days...that's quite a while if you ask me.
If you're trying to say the whole things a gimmick, then that can be said about lots of things. PS3 and the dumb Blue Ray, price.....not to mention lack of good games, thus why they're in last place.
SC now with bringing in SW characters to help sell people after the disappointing SC3.....not to mention "MK like Fatality moves now" which the creator even admitted
MVC2 is the same concept as MK vs. DC, two different universes colliding in an non-canon battle....end of story. If you don't like the idea, then just don't buy it.
When it comes to crossovers, nobody ever "begs" unless it's "DC vs. Marvel" or "MK vs. SF"
