I was shocked to see that my mortal kombat trilogy played on PS2, yes i know, old news, but it wasen't to me. Its neat having both the original trilogy and armageddon on the same consoles.

Yes they will play if you get the more expensive one $499.00 one. But if you get the $399.00 no they won't. They both will play hd dvd's but not regular dvd's. Only the more expensive one is backwards compatable, all the way back to psone. Plus it has more storage capacity.

PS the ps2 is only $130.00 at walmart, so it's fairly cheap to get a new one, that will play regular dvd's, and psone games.
